So you want glasses that look good and perform at a high level. Is that really too much to ask? Maui Jim doesn't think so. That's why it created the Akoni. The Akoni Sunglasses' fashionable aviator-style frames may be chic, but they are also made from Monel Metal that's durable, resilient, and easily adjustable. Maui Jim's lenses are made from PolarizedPlus2 technology, which eliminates glare and boosts colors. The Akoni's hinges are made from anti-corrosive nickel/silver springs, while silicone nose pads are non-slip for comfortable wear.

Bottom Line: The Akoni Sunglasses; beautiful yet bold.

I have these in gold/bronze lens. hands down
the best glasses i've ever owned. best polarize technology I've yet to experience-and i've seen many as my eyes are very sensitive. I dropped them once too many times and to my surprise no scratches on the lenses yet. Very impressive. worth the price. so comfortable.

Top of the line performance, top of the shelf price.

Wow... After buying Ray Bans all my life, I can see that the Maui Jim hype is for real. These are wonderful glasses. The polarization technology is amazing. I can't decide if they perform better on sunny days or with cloud cover. They seem to provide the perfect amount of color and light regardless of weather condition. Great water performance and glare is a non-factor. You will never squint in these. All around a great product, not to mention good looking in the old-school gold frames. Downside? My wallet burned my ass after buying these EXPENSIVE glasses. I also find myself treating them with extreme carefulness, surely a side affect of spending damn near 3 bills on sunglasses. In all, well worth it if you don't lose or break your glasses all the time.

Great glass, as are all Maui glass lenses, and polycarb for that

Great glass, as are all Maui glass lenses, and polycarb for that matter. The downside I found when trying these on was their weight. anyone else find them extremely heavy? They seemed to want to slip right off whenever i looked down. I had to take them back and get a light Ti wire frame instead cause I didn't want them to fall off and break.

Maui Jim's glass lenses are 20% thinner than conventional glass lenses, therefore they are 20% lighter. But glass is still a little heavier than polycarbonate or their Evolution lens material. If they are falling off when you look down , then they probably just need to be adjusted to fit correctly behind your ears. All Maui Jims can be custom fit to their owner.

maui jim akoni

Excellent sunglasses - comparing them to serengeti, nikon, orvis, bolle - they clearly equal or outperform from the perspective of vision/glare reduction. Fit perfectly, and the price on htis site was substantially less (more than $100 US) than in the store in which I first saw them in Vancouver. They are still expensive, though, so don't put them lense-down on your dashboard while driving or you will end up with very expensive scrathed sunglasses!

Maui Jim Akoni

I used to hate wearing sunnies as i thought they were just an annoying addition to the face. Today i bought the new Akoni from maui jim and i have never looked back. They are soo good for driving as the colour you pick up off the roads is clear and crisp. Great for wet weather driving too as you dont get any glare off the roads.

They are also light as, but yet they feel as steardy as a Tonka truck...

I recommend them bring back the aviators....
