It's easy to stash a climbing rope, groceries, or books in the Marmot Urban Hauler Bag. Marmot fashioned the Urban Hauler after Japanese fishing bags. Use the shoulder straps to carry this day pack like a backpack, or convert the straps to carry handles. The Urban Hauler's external pocket holds lip balm and grocery lists, while the internal pocket keeps keys accessible. Choose the medium size for light packing and the large hauler for longer outings.

I felt like Goldilocks...

This one is too big. This one is too small. Ah yes, this one is just right.

I felt the medium was too small and I was worried the large was going to be too big. The large is perfect.

My travel purse.. (AKA Man bag)wasn't going to be able to hold everything I wanted to carry in Paris. Going to the market and hauling around stuff to picnic with. It is the perfect size and it doesn't have all the unnecessary stuff that you just don't need. My wife used it to carry stuff for our dog during the local St.Patricks day dash. It doesn't work well for that, but it isn't supposed to. I wouldn't use it for hiking out on a trail, the butt and back slapping would get tiresome really quick.

The outside pocket is good size and so is an internal pocket for keeping things organized. The way the straps cinch up is a cool feature as well.

Overall I think it is a great bag for a multitude of urban activities.

    Works for my purposes

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I supply all my house cleaner employees with this backpack to carry cleaning supplies in. It is lightweight and low profile and works great because you can carry it as a hand bag or on your back. The draw string to close it makes it fast for packing up and allows for our mop stick to be able to stick out the top. It is also very durable and affordable. Please let me know when you get more of these in because I will buy them up.

    Nice gym bag

I use this bag as my gym bag. It's less bulky than a regular backpack and more convenient than a tote (since you can just carry it on your back). It's definitely larger than I originally expected, but it's different (in a good way) than most other bags out there and by far the most low-key gym bag I've owned--I don't mind carrying it if I have to go out after work and it's definitely come in handy at the grocery store.

      haven't used it

As usual, the quality from Marmot is fabulous, no complaints there. I have the medium, and I haven't used it once.I thought it would be more lightweight, but with the lightly padded back panel, it's really in the size and shape of a light daypack. Given the fact that I have other day packs with more features, this bag hasn't ever seen the light of day. For groceries, I prefer a lightweight stuffable bag instead of this, I can't imagine walking to the store with an empty backpack on my back when I could just toss a few nylon bags in my purse.

        Great design, perfect size.

This is the perfect all-around bag. I use it daily for trips to gym, farmers market, picnics, etc. I initially thought that the open design at the top might let in rain/snow, but it's a non-issue as the bag closes at the top once you have it on. Super light and nice design. I'm a huge fan.

          how long is shipping ???

ships wicked fast. Most of the time, if your order is in before 3PM Mountain Time, they'll ship it the same day.For an idea of how long it will take UPS to scurry your package along, here's a UPS Ground service map originating from Backcountry's warehouse:
