Why We Like The Tungsten Tent

After another double-digit mile day on the trail, we clear a spot for Marmot's Tungsten Tent. With color-coded poles and clips simplifying setup and a zone pre-bend construction creating near vertical walls, we're slipping inside a roomy fabric fortress in minutes. We slot our headlamp into the lampshade pocket for a little ambient lighting as we get situated for the night, while the double vestibules give us and our adventure mate each our own dry storage.

Reliable!

My 2p Marmot Tungsten has been very reliable. It kept me dry through a few very heavy downpours in the Midwest. With doors on both sides, access remains easy whether I am by myself or have a tent mate. Perfect for myself and my hiking gear. Rainfly can be used multiple ways for either privacy, easy access or wind-flow. For the price, it is durable and reliable.

Lots of color mixing?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent is fantastic for a to the point 2 person tent. I bought this tent after camping a handful of times with my friend who has an older model and was impressed by the ease of use/setup and packaging. One star was taken away for the choice of parts coloring, two pole ends and tent rivet tabs are dark blue while the rest are yellow. This is like having socks that have left/right printed on them, it's unnecessary and makes it look goofy if you mix it up. It would have been more favorable to make all tent pole ends the consistent yellow to make it easier to setup at night and reduce the chance of poking your friends eye out.

Perfect Balance Between Weight and Durability

This spring I took the greatest leap of adolescence and bought my first tent independent of my family. I knew I needed something that toed the fine line between durability and portability, as I would primarily be using it for river trips and backpacking. After an extensive and frankly obsessive research process, only the Tungsten 2p met my many demands. After some agonizing, I decided to take the leap, despite never owning a Marmot tent before. I am so glad I did! My first night in this tent, my dog and I stayed warm and dry despite the inch of snow that fell on top of us. This tent vents in a way that frankly I didn't know was possible and feels relatively spacious for being just a 2 person. I would say it can comfortably fit two average sized people and two medium sized packs. I have used it now for an entire spring and summer season in the peaks of the San Juans and various river canyons of the Southwest. Never once have I awoken to a drop of condensation nor had it rattle in obnoxious winds. Its quick and easy to set up solo and can pack down incredibly small. The wide open mesh top allows for spectacular star viewing and perhaps best if all, it's a spectacular color! I couldn't recommend this tent enough if you need something light and durable or just want to make a wise investment in an introductory tent. 100/10

Sadly disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I REALLY wanted to love this tent! However, I was not too impressed with the quality. The rain fly seams were not flush with the tent poles. We tried using the guy lines to pull out the wrinkles but it still bunched up in certain areas... I could tell this would be a problem in wet weather. Also, you have to awkwardly crawl under the rain fly to attach to the tent poles. Overall disappointed

Marmot really delivers with this tent!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent (tungsten 2p) is bulletproof. It’s been through the ADK’s , the Whites in NH, the Great Smokies, and everywhere in between. I split the weight up with my wife, and at around 2lbs each, (.9kg) you won’t find a more durable, reliable piece of equipment worth that weight in your pack. Flash snow storms in may, high wind storms at elevation, and torrential downpours in the ADK’s. I’ve never had a drop of water in it once, and the hardware has held up better than anything I’ve ever owned. Great gear as always!!

Great overall tent to get into backpacking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great starter backpacking tent, which includes a footprint. I have taken this tent on many backpacking trips which have included rain and wind and it has held up great. I will eventually upgrade to the UL version but for now I am happy taking this tent on my adventures!

Great for Short Backpacking Treks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While not ultralight, this is a great tent for shorter backpacking treks, especially in fair weather. The tent is easy to assemble for one person and comes together in minutes. Great quality and the material on the bottom keeps things dry. Would purchase again!

Strong and Well Built

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this tent for a few years and it has never let me down. Well, the first time I set it up the tent was missing the pegs and I got soaked in the rain! Once I found replacement pegs it has been wonderful and dependable.
