The Marmot Trestles 20F Semi Rec Sleeping Bag uses Wave Construction to make sure you stay warm and dry in wet conditions. An extra layer of Spirafil synthetic insulation covers an overlapping wave of insulation shingles, eliminating heat escape and making it very difficult for moisture to work its way in. A snagless draft tube blocks air from passing through the zipper, and easy-grab draw cords let you make hood adjustments in the middle of the night without having to turn your headlamp on. Two-way zipper sliders allow you to zip two sleeping bags together—for survival purposes, of course.
Bottom Line: Sharing body heat with an attractive camper is an exciting way to survive the elements.
Hey I am thinking about purchasing this bag, I am 6'1 and not sure if I should get the reg or long. I want some room length wise but not too much. I am wondering if any body is around my size that got the regular. thanks.
It is roomy, it is warm. However, it is also slightly too big when pack in the compression sack. Then again. It isn't a $$$ bag. So for the price you are paying for, it is a great bag to have.

This bag has a length that extends from 6' to 6'6" depending on your size. That being said sleeping pads are all about your personal preference and comfort level. I prefer blow up pads from Therm-a-Rest. They compress and are rather easy to carry and inflate. Remember sleeping pads are made to approximately the same length and dimensions as standard sleeping bags.
Here are a couple of suggestions: http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Therm-a-Rest-Trail-Sleeping-Pad/CAS0295M.html <--- Cheap, inflatable, and comfortable to me. http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Big-Agnes-Air-Core-Sleeping-Pad/BAG0011M.html <--- By Big Agnes. A little more expensive, but you are more cushioned (in my opinion).
No one has asked if this bag comes with a stuff (compression bag). Does anyone happen to know ? I compared it to the Marmot Trestle 15 Degree bag and it list a stuff sack.
This was the first bag I purchased for backpacking/camping. The price was the oringial criteria for me. I have since upgraded to the Marmot Hydrogen bag. The trestles bag is great as a beginner bag. Good loft, roomy, warm, compresses down into a stuff sack well, and stays dry if you are in wet weather. However, the weight at 4.5lbs is way to heavy for backpacking and the stuff size takes up a large amount of space in your bag. If you just want a nice bag for car camping or you are a value minded backpacker like I was go for this bag! I still use this bag as a loaner or on a trip where I dont want to ruin my hydrogen bag.
Yes, retangular liner is the way to go. You might have some extra fabric down by your feet, but if you use a mummy liner you lose any advantage to getting this semi-rectangular bag in the first place.
I am a female shortie, but need a bag wide enough that my dog and I can both fit into. I know the recommended height on the regular bag, but that really does not give me much info when you need something very short. Does anyone know the exact/actual length of this bag in the regular size.
spent the night at 10,000 feet. inexpensive bivy+rain, hail and snow= bad night. bag was drenched by 6 am but inside was dry! had to abandon ship by 7am it was sinking, water pooled up inside bivy and came in the zipper area. Bag dries out quickly and i love the extra room. I am comforatable to 30 a little cold at 20. great bag for the buck
I'm exactly 6' and I got a regular bag. You can stretch out some still, as the bag iteslf stretches some. Plus, you have less space to warm up with your body heat so you get warm faster.
The regular is also 1/4 lb lighter, though since it's a heavy bag, you probably aren't concerned about weight.
Mark,I have the Trestles 15 long bag, and compressed in its sack it comes to 10" high by 9" wide or just larger than a basketball. This bag wieghs almost a full lb more and is a little bigger, so you can expect it to stuff larger.
