Ramble on in the protection of the 20K waterproofing of Marmot’s MemBrain Strata and appreciate the coverage provided by the extra long length of the Men’s Traveler Rain Jacket. With a 35-inch center back length, this rain jacket will give you the ability to sit down without the soaking consequences and fits over a fleece. Tuck away the hood when the sun breaks through, and make a run for shelter before the next storm rolls in.

Bottom Line: Take the rain in stride.

Hi-Performance Outdoor Shell for Business Wear

By:
April 25, 2010

This jacket/coat does exactly what I wanted; high-performance rain wear that I can use with business clothing. I was nervous about the new Membrain Strata fabric but, its a-ok. Definately very waterproof and seems to be breathable, too. The fabric is quite light and should work well on the warmest days. Conversely, its not going to provide much warmth but, decent sizing will allow for signifcant layering of insulation. I think it looks good and one, of my friends even noticed it and complemented. The hood works well. The pockets are a fishnet fabric that will provide some ventilation although they don't seem rugged so, I'll be careful about putting pointy or sharp objects, like pens, in them.

Is this jacket essentially a variation on the Marmot Aegis or Marmot Transit jacket except different pockets, length, no underarm vents and no lifetime warranty? Are there internal pockets?

There is a mistake in the tech specs. All Marmot products have a life-time warranty and yes, there is an inside, zippered pocket. Fabric is Membrain Strata, but slightly heavier that the fabric used in the Aegis. Like the name says, it's intended as a travel or city rain jacket.

Peter,

This jacket would be good for keeping dry in a rainy climate for sure, however I would recommend the Marmot PreCip jacket for a rainy and hot climate. The PreCip has core venting where this jacket does not.
