We all have to get out at night to water a bush once in a while. We just do.

The Marmot Traillight 2-Person 3-Season Tent with Footprint is a lightweight, durable, feature-packed shelter for two with enough interior space to let you move around and get out at night without disturbing your buddy.
  • Bare Bones fast-pitch option lets you carry just the poles, fly, and footprint to save extra weight on the trail (footprint included)
  • Polyurethane-coated floor and fly repel rain so you and your gear stay dry inside
  • Fully taped fly and floor seams prevent water from sneaking in through fabric joints
  • Catenary Cut floor means the floor material curves a few inches up the tent walls to reduce direct seam-to-ground contact
  • Two doors and two vestibules give you and a partner easy entry, exit, and gear storage
  • Mesh panels fight interior condensation to help you sleep during bouts of muggy weather
  • DAC press-fit poles are easy to assemble day or night and save weight without sacrificing durability or strength
  • Reflective detailing helps you identify stealthy guy-lines at night
  • Noise-free zippers prevent waking up cranky trail partners

Great Tent for the Price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this tent off of Backcountry about a year ago. At the time I was looking for a 2 person tent that was about 4 pounds. I have previously owned the Sirius 3 from Sierra Designs so I knew what I was looking for.
I have to say, I've only used it a couple times, but I'm pretty impressed. I really like it because its lightweight and can easily be split up when backpacking. The footprint is an added bonus and it comes in at a very nice price. If there's one complaint I have, its that I wish the rainfly extended a little further on both sides to accommodate packs better on those rainy nights, but other than that, its a great 3 season all rounds.
Nice job, Marmot!

Incorrect information abounds...

This review is more about Backcountry than Marmot.

This site (along with some others) seem to be confused about this tent. Backcountry listed 1 vestibule in the specs, but 2 in the description (when I purchased this on 11/23/12). A reviewer stated that a gear loft was included (there isn't; another site also said the gear loft was included). The Backcountry rep I chatted with said (more or less), 'too bad, you should contact Marmot, and we'll fix the info about the vestibule.'

This was my first purchase from Backcountry and this response was a bit disappointing, on top of not getting something I had expected. I can't afford a different tent, so exchange isn't really an option.

But the tent seems great, and it was very easy to set up even in my small kitchen. I just wish I had know about the single vestibule (definitively) and that it didn't come with the gear loft (and doesn't even seem to be compatible with one).

Get an RMA number and return the tent...They will refund your credit card and you can then buy what you want...

Did it come with footprint?

Responded on

It did come with the footprint, and it's a great tent so I'm not going to return it. The misinformation is just a bit frustrating, particularly regarding the 1 vs 2 vestibule issue. But for two people, this is a great tent and actually roomy enough for two, and small packs will fit in the vestibule. Split between two people, each person is only carrying 2 1/2 pounds, which is not bad to have a fully enclosed, free standing tent.

Also, just noticed that Backcountry STILL hasn't changed the vestibule number in the description... There is only one!

Great tent, great price.

Not sure how this tent exists at this price, but its a great buy. Was looking for a sub-5 lbs 2-person tent to take on short backpacking trips. Initially looking at the Big Agnes UL and SL lines, but they are really expensive. REI's Half Dome 2 looked good but was a bit heavy. Then I saw this tent and am very happy with my purchase.

Trail weight is 4lbs 15oz, but that includes the footprint and gear loft, which is exactly what I was looking for. Tent set-up is very basic, two poles crossing each other. I was surprised at how vertical the walls were able to stand considering the basic tent design. Plenty of space for me at 5'10', would easily fit someone 6'0'-6'2'. Plenty of room for two people. I can sit up without issues. Rectangular floor with no taper. Love the gear loft and footprint.

Again, I have no idea how this tent can be priced so low, and still be plenty large enough for two people while weighing under 5 lbs. Just buy it.

Do this come with the fly as well??

Does this tent floor taper like other Marmot tents. For example, the Limelight says it is 54 inches wide, but it actaully tapers from 54 to 49 inches?

Responded on

No, The Trailight is 54 inches on both sides. No Taper
