Zip up the Marmot Men’s Torrid Fleece Jacket and enjoy outer layer performance for running or commuting, and an effective insulating piece for skiing or alpine climbing. This stretchy jacket feature Polartec Power Stretch Hardface fabric, which gives you full range of motion with added wind resistance. Three zippered front pockets hold your house keys and energy gels, and a wind flap behind the front zipper gives added protection from icy gusts. The Torrid makes an ideal outer layer on cool fall or spring days, and insulates under your shell on the coldest days of winter.
Bottom Line: Wind resistant stretch for cold, active pursuits.
This is a good lightweight fleece. I was a little dissappointed when I got it because I wanted a heavier, warmer fleece but that was my fault for not looking at these reviews. Its definitely a good fleece, built well, good zippers and has a nice athletic fit. I look forward to using it more as the weather gets warmer.
Hi, I'm interested in this jacket but can't seem to find a review of this anywhere. Can anyone who has purchased this jacket comment on the fit/color/material of this jacket? Thanks =)
This jacket is great. It's relatively lightweight, and I like the hardface, which facilitates putting a softshell jacket overot. I wear this combination for cross-country skiing; also wear this under my M'H shell for downhill in relatively mild weather. ecause of the hardface, it won't stretch as much as plain powerstretch, but I don't expect it to. I,m 6'2', 190 lb, and the large fits perfectly!

I disagree with the comments in the previous 2 reviews. This material is exactly what I look for in a fleece layer. It probably could have a draw string at the waist, but unless I'm just bumming around town I always wear a jacket like this with a shell. It's the outer layer that I expect to have a spray skirt and waist cord. This jacket looks great is a solid value at $120. Personally I do slightly prefer the Marmot Ignitor to this version due to pocket placement.
Just purchased the Torrid Fleece and it looks the business. All my research suggested it would have velcro cuffs and a draw cord hem and it has neither. Am I missing something?
You may have missed actually looking at a photo or doing any research. Not a single picture on this site or Marmot's shows either of those features, and in fact they show quite conclusively that it doesn't have them.
I was easily seduced by the 50% off tag backcountry slapped on this thing last may and now that fall temps are here my verdict is in. One of my biggest points of contention with the Torrid is the lack of a draw cord at the waist. This oversight combined with the extremely loose fit (size Large) of the jacket makes for a poor insulator. For reference I am 6' 3" and 185lbs with a 6' 1" ape index. This jacket fits very loosely around the midsection making it quite susceptible to drafts. The torso length is spot on however the arms could be 1/2 to 1 inch shorter. To top it all off the stitching on the sleeve cuffs is continually unraveling which I blame on the choice of thread. For the full asking price you can find a much better mid-layer.
The Torrid would have been great if the fit was better. Most power-stretch tops I've had fit pretty snug (because they stretch, duh!), and this one is just way too loose. If there was a draw string at the waist it may have worked. I even thought about sewing one in myself. But ultimately, it wasn't worth it. If you have a beer gut, this might work for you. Otherwise, don't bother with this.
