High-octane alpine athletes will go gaga over the Marmot Tioga Softshell Pant. A highly breathable M3 softshell compensates for increased body temps during intense cardio activity, and articulated knees provide maximum mobility during acrobatic ice climbing moves. Bonded scuff guards resist the various beatings you put the Tioga through, while ankle zippers allow for easy removing at the end of an exhausting day.

Bottom Line: Pants that can keep up with you, so you won’t be left pants-less.

Breathable Pants

By:

I use soft shell pants for backcountry skiing and need them to be breathable and mobile. Most soft shell pants intended for skiing are not breathable enough for me. In the past I have worn summer weight pants. I was initially concerned that these would be too warm because the brushed interior feels almost as thick as a long underwear layer. I had them out in warm, over forty degrees, for the first outing and they do breath enough to remain comfortable. I like the fit, the grey color, and the pockets. My only complaint is the belt loosens easily, these pants would really benefit from a pair of removable suspenders. The cuff guard looks pretty minimal too, but should be enough to do the job and not make the pant really heavy.

How does the sizing run on this pant? I wear an XL in the nano

How does the sizing run on this pant? I wear an XL in the nano jacket but only a L in the driclime catalyst, so I'm not sure which way the pants tend to run.

From my experience, these pants run long compared to other Marmot pants.

Good pants

I bought these pants this year and have worn them maybe 12 times.
These pants feel really nice, they fit well too. Not too tight, not too loose. I've used em for riding the lift with one or two pairs of long underwear underneath. For skinning or winter hikes, I've used them by themselves or with a thin pair of polypro underneath and never been sweaty. They breath well. I tend to run hot and sweat a bunch, and these pants feel great on me. They fit well too (medium on my 5'11 160pd frame). There's room for fleece pants underneath if needed.

They bead water well, although the DWR seems to be wearing off in places. Still, no issues with getting wet, but this is in snow. Not sure how they'd do in sleet/rain.

I really like the pocket arrangement on them. The brushed fleece on the inside is perfect for me.

My one concern is durability. They seem to show some wear at the inner ankles. After a week long trip in the rockies this winter, we'll see how much life they have left.

Tioga

This is a great pair of pants. im spending some time in Europe and have bought these pants for the winter. ive used these in temps ranging from 5 degrees C to -10 degrees C, and depending on what base your using they have been great, i think you could use these between 15 and -15 degrees C. The fit is very good, im 5.10 and 135lb, and i use a Small. The pants offer good stretch, and are very comfy, they dont restrict movement at all. The ankle cuffs are alittle big, but this is for ski boots so i accpet this, but they could be a bit tighter. The M3 softshell material is great, breathes, and sheds water and snow well. the DWR does wear after a while, this is normal. i use these for cross country skiing, i was once skiing all day in wet rainy sleet conditions, went good, but at the end of the day my thighs did get a little damp, but i should have been using goretex that day. Yes, i really recommend these, they are fantastic, good fit, good weather resistance, smart looking, good quality.
