Thor Tent

Considering it's named after the Norse god of thunder, lightning, and storms, it'd be fair for you to expect the Marmot Thor 2P Tent to be capable of withstanding some seriously harsh weather. And with its bomber construction and sturdy six-pole design, it more than lives up to those expectations. However, it also offers plenty of living space and minimal sacrifice in weight so you stay comfortable when you're sleeping inside it and when you're hauling it to base camp.

Its spacious floor plan provides plenty of room for two campers saddled with bulky mountaineering gear and winter clothes. Six tough and lightweight poles secure the structure to keep it from buckling under heavy snowfall and whipping alpine winds, and tough waterproof fabrics keep moisture at bay. And in case something rips when you're holed up in the mountains for days at a time, the included field repair kit lets you patch up any tears with ease.

Great design, poor material

Bought this tent as a motorcycle tent for my allroad travels five years ago. Used it for one trip. Put it to dry after it and then stored it in a dark storage room. Due to kids did not use it for four years. Took it out…put it up, and the whole outside tent was sticky, because the seams completely degraded. And I know this is something that can happen when you store it wet, but the tent was dry. Bone dry. Just like the rest of the parts. The seams degraded and left all of the glue on the tent. Also, the pole elastics were completely not elastic anymore.

This is by far the best tent I have ever had. It not only survived but was hardly phased by 70+ mph straight line winds. When other tents were collapsing, ripped apart or just blown away this tent hardly moved. Winter camping is very enjoyable with this tent. It can be a little warm in 80+ degF, but just add a fan.

Awesome tent for 2 people

This tent is pretty easy to carry in my backpack and I abosutely love this tent design! Poles are hard and solid for keeping tent stady in windy condition. Great protection from the rain! Considering how Iceland can get rainy this tent handeled very well, any rain did not get inside to the tent during my campings. Tent is spacious for 2 people! I fits my 88L backpack behind my head and some stuff by the side also for another person the same. I think this tent is perfect for 2 people. I like the big windows and there is two zipers for vintilations so far I haven't had any issuses with anything sleeping in this tent. Entarence zipers are great and solid. The base of the tent looks pretty solid I have slept on the rocks next to the glacier and It was fantastic! Also to take poles off the tent after the camping pretty quick and easy. Have slept in few other famous outdoor brands tents that is in the same price range and acutally I loved mine Marmot more than other tent that I've slept in.

Lousy quality

Bought 2015, and only used ca 25 nights in Nordic climat, it is now falling into pieces. The cords in the poles have lost all elasticity, the window has fallen out and the taping is coming out in small flakes.

Canada cannot destroy it.

I have used this tent for 6 years for winter camping and during shoulder season. I have always been dry and comfortable. The tent is spacious for 2 people, which is nice for all the extra gear needed in the winter. It sets up easily and fairly quickly even with single person doing it. I have an older model with a window in the vestibule, which feel out and one of the fly velcro tie downs also feel off. Easy fixes, but not appreciated when it started raining. Overall a bomb proof tent that has seen multiple days of use and I would recommend it to other winter campers.

Winter Camping in Algonquin Park ... in Feb.

A little complicated to set up at -20C with snow shoes on but worth the effort.

Solid tent!

I bought this tent a month ago. Used it on a winter camp out in March. Dug out about 18 inches of snow and placed the tent on top of the footprint. Set up was a breeze take down was a breeze. The tent created a micro environment which was significantly warmer than the outside tent temperature. Plenty of pocket storage as well as two doors and two vestibules. Tent fly goes to the ground and has fly extensions on which you can pile snow or simply leave alone to block out drafts. This tent is bombproof. I highly recommend it. Worth every penny
