The Marmot Summerset Softshell Girls� Jacket keeps your little girl protected and warm while allowing her to move freely. The stretchy, breathable fabric keeps water out, so she can play in the rain or snow without having to pull on a mountain of layers. This is a Marmot M3 softshell and as such is wind resistant, but not windproof. The M-3 softshells are the most breathable of the Marmot softshells and are best for higher aerobic activities in drier, milder conditions.

This jacket was thinner than I had expected so I returned it. Although it would be good for everyday wear I think. We were getting it for skiing/snow and was going to use a fleece underneath, but still too thin even with a fleece. Would not keep a child warm in the snow.
Does this jacket have any insulation, or is it strictly a shell?

This is a softshell that's designed as an insulating piece. When you get into hardshells is where you'll often lose the insulation.
