Marmot got together with CMH heli-ski guides to make a solid softshell designed specifically for demanding skiing—the Storm King Men's Jacket. Starting with highly water-resistant and ultra-breathable Gore-Tex Softshell material, Marmot designed every stitch of the Storm King Jacket to keep you comfortable in the snow. This jacket easily endures snow blasts on powder days and keeps you from overheating when it's time to hike a ridge. The powder skirt keeps flakes out if you take a digger in the fluffies, and rib vents help you stay cool when the sun beats down.

Bought this one with great anticipation but had to return it - I just wasn't warm enough. This is a lesson for any softshell user: if it breathes then it won't be windproof. I went back to a good old fashioned hardshell. Where I live and ski softshells are for spring skiing only.

Bottom line, this jacket rocks long and hard; absolutely love it. Sheds moisture, eats wind alive, decent thermal performance even on calm but COLD days (not all softshells can claim this). Sizing generous; plenty of room for layers if needed. Good venting, well-made; don't let price scare you, if you got the scratch its well worth the spend. It's nice to have nice gear....
