Description

Pursue the stuff that makes you tick.

Past the spot where the sidewalk ends, you'll find a land of enchanting wild, and that wild will throw everything at you. Don't worry though, because the Marmot Men's Scree Softshell Pant can handle it. Highly durable, stretchy, and breathable, the fabric in these pants was designed for scrambling, climbing, and the abuse that comes from long hikes. An array of pockets keeps small essentials close at hand when you're beyond basecamp, and with such a versatile design, you may never need another pair of pants for long or short trips into the mountains.
  • Highly-breathable M3 Softshell material allows stifling moisture to escape from underneath on hot days and repels light precipitation in foul weather
  • Four-way stretch softshell fabric offers all the range of motion you need for climbing, hiking, or travel
  • Thigh pocket with concealed zipper keeps small essentials handy yet tucked away
  • Full zip fly makes doing your business easier than ever (wow!)
  • Ankle zippers make it easy to pull the Scree on and off over your shoes

Best pants

I weigh over 275 lb (125 kg) and the 40/Regular fits very well.

Best pants ever

These pants are really light and confortable, water resistant is excellent I used them in a rainy day without any problem. They are not too baggy that I really like. I am 31" and the 32/reg fits me perfect

All-rounder

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These pants are great for just about anything. I rock them casually, on the bike, and winter hiking. I can tell they'd be great for climbing and even snowsports like snowshoeing and XC skiing as well. Treated them with Nikwax Tech Wash and they repel a light rain shower pretty well.
The zip ankles are perfect on the bike... I zip my right leg up and it keeps it out of the chain. Handy on cold commutes or on a fatbike ride.
The material is super comfy...I like wearing these more than jeans or khakis! And it has soft fleece pockets...mmm....
The belt loops are nice because lots of softshell pants just have elastic waistbands and look nerdy. These are definitely casual enough for dinner, school, or whatever your Apres heart desires.

Fantastic Outdoor Pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As soon as I tried these on,they became my favorite pants. The four-way stretch doesn't hinder movement, and they've survived everything I've put them through so far, be it backpacking, climbing, or using them as general work pants. They show absolutely no signs of wear. The somewhat slim fit is nice to keep them from catching on things, plus they look nice. The water resistance makes them great pants for the winter and rainy outdoor activities, and they dry pretty quick! Above all, they are incredibly comfortable.

You won't regret buying a pair (or two. or three) of these pants!

Great Pants!

I had originally purchased these pants for MTB riding but they are a little baggy. I have to wrap the pants with tape around my right ankle. No big deal, they fit great and look good. I was a little worried how the rear of the pants would hold up (from the seat of my bike), but no problems here either. They still look brand new after many miles of use. Way to go Marmont.

So I am seeing many people calling this a Fall\Winter pant. Has anyone used or attempted to use them 72 - 80 + degrees? Yes I know there are other options to include shorts, just wondering if these are basically a winter pant more than anything.

While these are marmot's lightest and most breathable softshell, they are still going to be to heavy and you will be sweating and really hot wearing these in warm temps, especially doing high aerobic activities.

Bitchin' Softshell Pants

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These pants are friggin' awesome for anything outside. Running or relatively intense hiking with no base layer is comfy down to 25 degrees thus far (maybe colder), even though they are very light, and uninsulated. Marmot never lets me down, and these are amongst their best bargains, especially on sale at Backcountry.com.... Sized perfect.

Freakin' Awesome

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are my first softshell pants. I snagged these for the discounted price and couldn't be happier. I was looking for some winter hiking/biking pants. These are ideal. They certainly keeep cold wind out. I even rode 5mi into work with these in a 2 degree F wind chill and nothing froze off. The ankle zips are great for keeping the legs off the chain. Easy to throw on some long johns underneath in colder temps too. The fit is great and mobility is a breeze. Grab a pair.

Summitted Kilimanjaro in these pants!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought these pants as a non-cotton alternative for a Mt. Kilimanjaro climb. Wasn't disappointed: they were warm enough when worn without a base layer yet were spacious enough to accommodate a thermal and fleece layer underneath on the night I summitted. The elastic waistband and zippered pockets are also nice features. No regrets about purchasing these pants although if I bought another pair, I'd opt for a color other than Navy --- I looked like a Smurf on one of the days I wore these pants along with a blue shirt.

Thanks for pointing that out. I never did like smurfs or people that liked smurfs so...good to know.

Just want to say what a great purchase these pants are at this price! I wore these on Mount Rainier and with a baselayer they kept me warm with the 30MPH winds on the summit.

I just went kayaking 12 miles in them last weekdown an icey river and again was warm with a baselayer. The DWR finish sheds water too. Best pants. Greal deal! Easy to wash and care for.

My Favorite Pants!

I love these pants! They fit great. Perfect length and waist size. The waist has elastic which just makes the pants more comfortable. The legs are tapered so there is no bagginess near the feet. I wear these for everything from rock climbing in the spring and fall, alpine climbing, winter hiking, and sledding with the kids. Great in the winter with a baselayer.

the fit is much different from previous marmot Tarn pants, had to size down in order to get the approiate fit.
Surprizing!

Great buy

Would have given these 5 stars but have had limited experience with soft shell gear and I am sure there is probably something better out there somewhere.
I find these very comfortable and have worn them for both skiing and walking.
They are not 100% wind proof but are a perfect weight with plenty of stretch to allow freedom of movement. The zippered cuff enabled me to fit them over my Scarpa T2s.
I am 6' 3" and 85kg and a bought a large that fit well for length.

Hi
Does anyone have any idea whether these will fit over T1s? Skiing downunder is warm, looking for light softshell pants. Thanks in advance. Cheers G.

Well, I can answer my own question. Bought them and they are great. Fit the boots, no worries, my titanium knee brace is a bit tight but the pants are really nice. Might need thermals under them in June/July but should be ideal weight out the back the rest of the time. I normally wear 36 waist 32 leg Levis and the 36 in these is spot on. Gotta love Backcountry.com
