Description

Like a reactor, it was built to produce (heat) powerfully.

Cotton can turn a cold, wet winter day into absolute misery, but the supremely-warm fleece of the Marmot Men's Reactor Hooded Fleece Jacket won't skip a beat in those same conditions. Worn alone, this jacket has all the features you need to stay comfortable and prepared in cold weather, and when truly brutal cold moves in, wear the Reactor under your shell jacket as an insulator.
  • Polartec Classic 100 Micro fabric has a high weight-to-warmth ratio to fight off the cold, and it dries quickly
  • Angel-Wing Movement cut gives you ample range of motion in the arms
  • Flat Lock Construction eliminates bulging seams that cause annoying chaffing
  • Wind flap behind front zipper and chin guard keep your face warm in bitterly cold conditions
  • Elastic drawcord hem cinches things up at the waist to lock out chilly drafts

You're right in between the small and the medium. I would probably go with the small based on your weight. The jacket may be just a touch short depending on what you're used to.

This was my first Marmot purchase and I couldn't be happier. Light weight, super soft, and like the description says, warmth to weight ratio is wonderful. I'm 6'3, 160 and got the Large. I have monkey arms and this fits great. Loose fit enables me to wear a sweater underneath for apres ski and I'm toasty to temps around 20. Would recommend it to anyone.

This fleece has turned out to be great. I bought it as a backpacking warm layer because of the lightweight and the hood. Even in summer I sometimes find myself wishing I'd brought a warm hat on cool evenings in the mountains. It packs small for it's size, it breathes really well and does a decent job of keeping wind out, as long as you are facing into it, panels only in the front. Reviewer saying it is only as warm as a flannel shirt may not have ever relied on a flannel shirt to keep warm. The warmth to weight ratio is great here. The hood fits close and warms the face and throat without impeding visibility or bothering my chin. The top of the zipper, when open does poke up at a funny angle but is really not a problem. With a light shell over it, it is really warm and comfortable.I have worn it down to about -4c and found it to be warm enough while moving but you would need a shell or more layers below that. Because it works so well and is so comfortable it has become an everday garment, worn to my daughter's soccer games and practices and whatever hiking I can fit in. It fits on the large side for sure. I'm 5'9" 165lbs and got a medium based on the Marmot size chart. I would fit into a small I'm sure but the extra room is not uncomfortable. Better on the big side than the small. Being a Canadian customer I got burned on duty, taxes and had to pay shipping so beware if you haven't purchased anything in a while, some of the policies have changed. Service was great, shipping was fast.

Love this Jacket and the fact that it comes in Hokie colors only makes it that much better! I have worn this on 28 degree morning and 60 degree days and it has been great in both conditions!

It's very comfortable, and very soft, as others have noted. It fits well, and is nice looking as a standalone garment. I think it's a great layer under my shell, but without, any wind just cuts right through. As far as warmth/weight goes, it's more akin to a hoody than a jacket. Warmth-wise it's like a flannel shirt that You might wear over a t-shirt in the morning until it warms up a bit.
The pocket layout is so-so. The hand pockets are fine, but the upper arm pocket is on the small side. The chest pocket would be much better with outside access instead of hidden inside. That makes keeping your phone or ipod there less convenient.
So, overall, it's comfortable and good looking, but if you really want one I'd try to catch it on sale, because I think at full price there are better values in more versatile jackets.

If you wanted warmth as a jacket the 300 gram jackets do fine without a shell. This puppy was made for layering and as a lightweight warmup. I have one and used as it was intended, it is a beautiful thing to behold.

This is a great little fleece jacket. The 100 micro fleece layers easily when needed and is fairly warm by itself. But the standout thing is the feel. You feel like you have just won the lottery and are walking down a street at night with tons of beautys staring at you when wearing this thing. A work of art. The hood is there for when the winds wake up. Buy this. I am soooo glad I did.

This is by far my favorite warm layer. The polartek wool is amazing and super soft even after countless washes. I've used this as a mid layer under my shell while Skiing and for winter ascents in the Adirondacks and the white mountains. It is tremendous on and off the mountain.

Wow! I love this thing so much I just ordered a second. Extremely warm, fits perfectly under my marmot precip, and looks really awesome too. Amazing fleece mid-layer for autumn hikes, cold fishing mornings, spring skiing, and any other adventure. This is my favorite piece of clothing hands down. I wear it around my house and going out constantly and have had several people ask about it at bars since the fleece is so light/fluffy.
