Bad strategy for blackjack; Pretty smart move for the backcountry.

If the Marmot Randonnee Mitt were playing blackjack, it'd double down on every hand. That's because it comes stocked with both a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex XCR insert and Marmot's waterproof breathable MemeBrain shell fabric. With protection like that, your table-tapping digits are sure to stay protected during even the most intimidating mountain weather.

  • Gore-Tex XCR Performance waterproof breathable insert is guaranteed to keep you dry in brutal storms while allowing evaporating sweat and excess heat to pass through
  • Marmot Membrain shell fabric features a proprietary waterproof breathable PU laminate to repel melting snow or rain before it ever reaches the Gore-Tex insert
  • Thermal R insulation features synthetic fibers to trap warmth, retain insulating powers even if it gets wet, and survive repeated compressions
  • DriClime Bi-Component lining wicks moisture away from your skin so your digits stay comfortable
  • Wrist strap, gauntlet drawcord, and quickdraw tech let you cinch down the glove to help keep snow out and warmth in
  • Safety leash included for extra security during transitions
  • Nose wipe dispenses rogue snot particles with the precision of a rooftop sniper and the sultry smoothness of a cabaret dancer's inner thigh

I'm returning this. The thumb is located too low in this mitten. When I wear it, I have 2.5-inch empty space above my fingertips and the wristband comes slightly above my wrist. My wife, who has smaller hands than me, has better fit with her thumb but now she has 3-inch empty space above her fingers. It's good looking and great fabric though.

I just bought these mittens from backcountry to use for skiing in jackson wyoming at the end of december. They seem pretty thin for mittens and I don't know if they will be able to keep my fingers warm. I have a wool liner also to wear underneath. Will these get the job done or do I need to exchange them for a heavier weight mitt?

They are going to get you through most days, especially with the liner. If it is a really cold day buy a few of those cheap throw away heater packs.

Warm and comfy

These mitts are very warm and are great for colder conditions. They are very soft inside and are worth buying.

I am very happy with these gloves. Got them after getting frost nip from the heli ones [returned them] & these get the job done much better. these are my "go-to" gloves when the temps are down, down, down.
