Dialing in your winter gear can be a serious pain, with all the baselayers, midlayers, and shells you have to choose from, but Marmot's Ramble Component Men's Jacket makes all your layering worries things of the past. It's a classic 3-in-1, with a tough outer shell that's been outfitted with a waterproof and breathable two-layer MemBrain laminate and fully taped seams to shed soggy snow, wintry rain, and gunky precipitation of all other sorts, and a warm fleece inner jacket that can be worn along with the shell or on its own for easy and durable warmth.
The shell features a fixed adjustable hood for increased storm protection. The shell and liner are both cut with Marmot's famous Angel-Wing Movement, which lets you lift your arms to praise the snow gods without exposing your waist to their tomfoolery. A drawcord hem and hook-and-loop cuffs on the shell provide extra snow and windproofing, and a series of external and internal pockets keep your snacks close, your phone dry, and your ski pass within easy reach.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Large
I've been looking for a reasonably affordable component jacket for a while. This fit the bill perfectly. Haven't faced truly frigid temps yet but it's warm and cozy comfortable with temps in the low 20s. Seems to be made to Marmot's typical high standard. Would definitely purchase again.
Couldn't ask for a better Jacket
I summited mt. Washington on 1-17 with 60mph winds in this shell. It worked great. Would recommend
Does this jacket have a powder skirt? Is the hood helmet compatible?
Hey PhilCons - This Ramble Component Jacket does not have a powder skirt but the adjustable hood will accommodate a basic ski helmet. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions about Marmot or other jackets.
