The Men's PreCip Traveler Jacket is a sophisticated, city-conscious redesign of Marmot's award-winning ubiquitous rain shell. Equally at home on the streets of Manhattan as it is in the mountains of Scotland, the PreCip Traveler features the same fully-taped seams, Dry Touch interior, and convenient packability that made its predecessor famous. To make it urban-friendly, Marmot added extra length, a square-shouldered overcoat cut, and soft DriClime fabric around the neck and inside the pockets. A fully-functional, waterproof hood hides inside the smart stand-up collar as downpour insurance.
Bottom Line: Marmot brings backcountry tech into the boardroom with the PreCip Traveler Jacket.
whenever anyone asks for a reccomendation on a light jacket or a rain jacket i always say the north face venture jacket...light, cheap, and waterproof...but really almost any jacket will do, you got a golf bag so weight wont matter too much

I ordered a large and returned it for a medium. On neither could I get the zipper on the left to attach securely to the box on the other side, without making 4 or 5 attempts. Imagine trying to do it in the rain! Too bad, as the medium fit very well.
Does anyone know if the 2009 version, sold as the Marmot Traveler Jacket (no "Precip" in the name), is any better?
The adjustments come in the form of left and right draw-string loops w/ catches. They are nestled in small triangular pouches located at the base of the hood (front). They sit just above my clavicles. You reach up with both hands and pull down to tighten.
The hood is deep and maintains structure when unfolded yet is surprisingly small when rolled back into the "collar".
From the product description: "A fully-functional, waterproof hood hides inside the smart stand-up collar as downpour insurance". According to Marmot's website there is a drawstring through the hood that you can adjust from the back of said hood.
True to size, lightweight, and packs in side pocket of briefcase. Perfect for Europe's humid, rainy weather. Fits easily over sweater or sports jacket without looking like backpacker gear. Highly recommended.
Why does every site use the same photos? For crying out loud somebody open the jacket up and let us see inside, the back, the pockets, the cuffs and the snap/Velcro system
I bring this for bad weather when I travel. Has good hood system. I have spent 2 hours walking in wind and heavy rain and no leaks. It does have some embroidered labels, but on the black they are very inconspicuous. I bought my usual size and it still fits over suits and sports jackets. It is cut well- not too full. Great if you don't want to look too formal
Hey Spencer, this is going to be a great jacket for ball games, and when it comes to backpacking it is really personal preference. This jacket is going to come down past your butt for sitting. That might be annoying for backpacking ... walking up hill wont be able to take as long strides. Just remember that BC has an awesome return policy. If you don't like it now or in 30 years you can return it no questions asked
