When nasty weather moves in on your hike, whip out the Marmot Women’s Precip Pant and shed water like a duck-billed platypus. This ultralight, super-packable pant was designed specifically for women to give you a comfortable fit, so toss the Precip in your pack and be ready for anything.
Bottom Line: Follow the Boy-Scout, uh, Girl-Scout motto; be prepared.
No other pant that meets the condition that we put these through. Although we are not in constant weather, these provide completely. Light weight and compresses to nearly nothing, which is critical when backpacking in rough, SW terrain for 7-10 days at a time.
Purchased these pants to use for work (equine ambulatory vet in all kinds of weather) as well as for a trip to Iceland planned for later this summer. So far have kept me dry working outside in the rain. I think even though they are very thin, they also keep me warmer than I expected too. I have a Marmott windbreaker jacket made of the same material that I also love. I haven't tested them in hours upon hours of torrential rain, but for 15-20 minutes at a time of of work in the rain they kept me totally dry.

If you like a tight waist and a very high rise you may like these, but they didn't work for me. The size small was tight, and I wear a size 6 pant. Even worse, the leg zip was not wide enough to go over my hiking boots. I decided to go with another brand (O.R.) with full zips, and a better fit.
I'd like to wear these for ice skating, is there a zip from approximately knee down, I can't tell from the photo, and I don't necessarily want the full zip version?
Excelente prenda, la utilizamos en Mountain Bike y Hiking y nos ha dado excelentes resultados, ha soportados varios torrenciales tropicales sin dejar entrar una gota de agua, protegiendones perfectamente del la interperie. muy recomendable.
These pants are rock solid. I've worn them all day in rain and been absolutely dry. I also wear these to work over my work clothes in the winter as an extra weather barrier when I bike to work. I've even caught them in my bike gears a few times and they've never torn. Since they pack so small I always toss them into my day bag when I think the weather might be iffy.
If you're tall, you will want to pay attention to inseam length and buy the tall sizing if necessary.
So far so good. My bicycle is my transportation and neither wind nor rain nor whatever saturates us from a Nor'easter keeps me off it. Light weight, a great layer to cut the cold wind and stay dry. AND since I ride at after sunset, I FINALLY have a light colored pair of rain pants. How come no one else considered a color other than Black?
I was very excited about these pants, but after using them to bike to work on a particularly rainy day, I'll be looking for something else. They work fine in light rain, but after a 30 minute commute in steady rain my base layer ended up pretty wet. I also agree with the comment about the narrow waist--I am a petite person and normally wear a 2 or 4, and find these very small in the waist, especially if you are layering.
I'm 5'2, 120 bought a small. Love. I was out in a down pour rain storm, then a snow storm. Perfect pants for staying dry. Very thin but get the job done.
used them on an archaeology field school in intense British Columbia rainstorms, kept everything dry. I also put them on over wet clothes and then sat in my car for a drive and the seat stayed completely dry! Loved that! I actually intentionally mean to purchase the full zip pants from Marmot but am happy with these just the same, when does anyone actually need to unzip their pants on the sides instead of just stepping out of them? Everyone in the field school bought marmot rain pants and everyone was very happy about it. Thanks Backcountry!
I bought these pants for a trip that would be rainy and muddy as I was hiking the Andes mts. These pants are very lightweight but insulated so you won't get wet at all. The bottom of the pants have zippers and a pull cord which is great for taking the pants off over your boots if you get too warm. The downside is the pants are too short as many of the reviews mentioned. I am 5'4" and is just barely long enough. Secondly, the waistband is a little too bunched. I am a small girl and I got an XS and it seemed a little uncomfortable. Overall the pants are good but not great!
