I use them for a 20min bicycle commute to work and back. They're light, don't take up much room in my bag, and keep my pants dry; so far they haven't added much warmth this winter, but I'll likely be glad of that come summer. However, they do okay at keeping the wind out, so any old layering underneath works fine for me. I wouldn't expect any more at this price point.

Bought these pants to use as part of my rain gear, which they work excellent for. I carry these with me everywhere because of how light they are and they pack very small. The zip length is perfect for sliding over shoes or boots easily. I also use these for riding my bicycle on cold days, help up great in 30 degree weather for 11 miles one trip, blocked wind great. Also ended up using these as ski pants as I'm not a frequent skier and didn't want to buy full on ski gear, where they worked great at keeping me dry, just needed to wear some thermal gear underneath as these provide no warmth really. Overall, a great product that is useful for more than just rain protection.

Would these be good for commuting on a bicycle in the rain?

These would be a great choice for commuting on a bicycle in the rain. They are fully waterproof, are very light, and pack down small enough to carry with you all the time so you don't get caught in a downpour without them.

When that afternoon thunderstorm rolls in too quick and there is not a tree in sight, these pants go on over boots quick and keep your legs toasty and dry. I've never had a problem with these pants in more than one downpour, but if that quick storm turns into a few days of soggy weather, these pants start to lack. Once one part starts to get wet, the rest of the pants take on water. But on the upside, they dry really quick - like going from soaking to dry in a couple of hours. They are perfect for the price.

took these backpacking around europe b/c it was rainy and i wanted to go snowboarding without taking up alot of room in my backpack with my regular ski pants. worked great! i was sitting on my ass in the snow for a good amount of time waiting for my friend to catch up and didn't get wet at all.

Side zip is much better in full length to easily take on and off with shoes on on the trail. I didn't realize it until I tried it on with my shoes on. Side zip with half length below knees it's necessary to take shoes off to take it on or off.

Let's first say that with any rain gear, you will not get good breathability. Next, I need to say that I've had these for about four years, and only used them maybe 10 times. However, every time I used them I was thoroughly impressed. Very waterproof and durable.

Any idea what the inseam for a Medium - Long would be? The medium regular is 31. Im 5'11" and I need about a 32-33 inseam. Would a little short be better than longer?

If you're going to be wearing gaiters, then it doesn't matter either way, but I would err on the side of long rather than short. You don't want them popping up and water getting into your boots.
