Don't get drenched or let off a stench.

Protect yourself from precipitation while releasing your perspiration in the breathable, waterproof Marmot Women's PreCip Jacket. The PreCip is 43% more breathable than last year, while offering solid 10K-rated waterproof protection. Throw on this comfortable shell when heading out on the trail in wet weather, and its microporous NanoPro membrane with microscopic, densely-packed pores and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish will go to work keeping rain drops out while letting perspiration through. The DriClime mesh chin guard prevents moisture buildup from your warm, moist breath and dripping sweat—moving it quickly away from your skin and drying quickly. Fully taped seams ensure rain doesn't sneak through the cracks, and you can batten down against the elements by pulling in the hood, hem, and cuffs. For additional ventilation if you start getting steamy huffing up a hill, unzip the underarm vents.

If the weather clears up, roll up the hood and stuff it in the collar to keep it out of the way of your backpack. Or stuff the whole jacket into one of the zippered hand pockets that double as stuff sacks, and pop it in your backpack. It weighs a mere 11.4 ounces, so you'll hardly notice it's there.

    Best rain coat eve

I bought this bc it was so light weight and breathable, and packed up into its own hood. I have worn this on many four wheeler trips, and fishing adventures and it's never let me down. I have not gotten wet in the heaviest of down pours.

      Stylin and Ridin

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

This is a perfect light-weight jacket for cycling, hiking, and traveling. It packs up very small, so it easily fits in any bag.
The Jacket also keeps the wind and chill out for those burley spring days.

The hood can be rolled down for convenient use and getting it out of the way when neccessary. I was very impressed by this product.

Loved so much, I gave as gifts.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Size Bought: Large

I have had mine for 2 years now and love it every time I have to use it. I ended up buying one for my wife and getting a good friend one when she moved Seattle. Fits true to size. It sounds like a potato chip bag while wears but keeps you dry and not over heated.

I am a bigger girl, and I really struggle finding a jacket that fits just right. I originally ordered this coat in a large, because that's usually what I wear. Although it fit alright, the shoulders were really tight, and I knew I'd never be able to layer underneath. So I decided to exchange it for an XL, and I am SO glad I gave this coat another chance. Today is my first day using it, and tah-dah! It's raining! It works wonderfully, and has a much better fit than the large. I have room to layer underneath, and it's really comfortable. I love that the hood is able to roll up into the collar, so it still looks great, even as just a windbreaker. I can't wait to take this thing into a downpour to see how it holds up!

Oh, and the color is FABULOUS! I selected "gemstone", and it's a great purple color that really pops!

      GREAT INCLEMENT WEATHER JACKET

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

THIS JACKET ACTUALLY KEEPS YOU DRY AND WARM IN ANY TYPE OF RAINY WEATHER. THE FIT OF THE HOOD IS AMAZING AND KEEPS RAIN OFF YOUR FACE AND ALLOWS YOU TO SEE WELL IN ANY DIRECTION. I HAVE NEVER WORN ANOTHER HOODED GARMENT THAT IS AS EFFECTIVE AS THIS ONE FOR MY FOREIGN TRAVELS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Great jacket at a great price

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: small

I purchased the platinum color in a small recently from a chain discount store, and thought I would need a medium, but ended up with a small. I've been losing the rest of some baby weight so when I thought it might not fit in the chest area, I was wrong...it actually does. :-) I'm a 34C for reference and a 4/6 in dresses and tops. It fits perfectly and I can fit a thin fleece or base layer under it, comfortably. I'm excited to put it to good use. It also packs down very small so it's super convenient for travel and for throwing in my day pack for a day outdoors.

Basically I am a female giant, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this jacket. My old wind/rain jackets were always way too short, but the Marmot PreCip is exactly what I was looking for! The jacket falls below my hips and the sleeve length is perfect. No more chilly wrists or low back. I can see how this jacket may run a little long for petite women, but for me, it is a dream. The jacket is also lightweight and breathable. I have not used it in rainy conditions yet, but I am hoping it lives up to my expectations, as I love Marmot's brand.

      Lightweight and Versatile

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

This jacket is lightweight and versatile. It’s so small and lightweight I just throw it in my backpack or tote bag. The sizing was accurate - I usually wear and got the medium and it’s just right. Fits will but still has enough room to layer underneath.

      Love it!

I bought this jacket originally for a hiking trip to CO over the summer.. It didn't rain too much but it was still nice to have it because it did help block the wind a little bit. I've used it several times riding my scooter around town and going to/from the car. I love that it is so light weight and packs up ridiculously small.. The only downside I could see is that the sleeves are quite long, but maybe that is just me. I have enough room under it to wear a heavier fleece jacket, which is perfect. Fits true to size! It does everything I could ask of a rain jacket and more. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering buying this shell.

      Love it!

      Great Quality, great service

The Marmot Precip jacket is high quality, absolute rainproof and sharp looking jacket. My daughter loved hers so much, and the color couldn't have been better if she'd designed it herself. Exact shade as shown, and perfect fit. May have to outfit the whole family with this one.

Cost friendly with all the features

I looked through so many shells to find this jacket. I wanted a light weight, waterproof, breathable jacket that I could wear over my down coat or wear by its self in the rain but I didn't want to spend much. Weight/packablity is also important because I will use it while backpacking. This jacket had everything I wanted while being very cost friendly. I'm happy with the purchase. I'm 5'2, 120lbs and I got the XS and it's perfect. I have enough space to put my sweater and Lightweight down jacket under. The fabric is a little noisy which was expected. For the cost vs features I think it was a great purchase.

        Worked great!

Got this as a gift, she loved it! Kept her dry and kept her warm in windy conditions. I have owned the Precip Jkt for years, always worked perfectly. However, if you are in a serious downpour like I recently experienced in Humboldt Redwoods, then you will need a more serious rain layer. For the standard rain deal, this is the go-to layer. Fits true to size. I always add a size for covering mid-layers.

Got What I Wanted and Needed.

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
        • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket in 2 different colors for my sisters who needed raincoats to wear this winter. This jacket is easy for layering with fleeces or hoodies and packs away nicely in lockers or backpacks. I was looking for something that could stand some wear for the next few years to come and would additionally be stylish for a teenage girl. They've both said they're able to stay warm and dry while wearing the coat and that the coat dries fast enough to keep in a backpack during the day. The jackets where however bought a size bigger that the girls are so they can grow into them.

Not as good as the old one

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Ordered this to replace a Marmot Precip jacket from several years ago that I was quite happy with, but returned the newer one disappointed. Marmot has changed several details for the worse: significantly shorter pit zips, front zipper no longer is a two-way zipper (i.e. can't open from the bottom), cut slimmer through the arms and especially the armpits, making it difficult to wear over layers. If you want an around-town rain jacket to wear over street clothes, it's probably fine. If you're looking for a waterproof outer layer for active adventures, there are better options.

        Great jacket

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size

Jacket shipped fast and arrived in great condition. The color and fit are perfect for me and it works great. Have used it a few times in the rain it has kept me perfectly dry. It's light, packs down small, and great to take everywhere if theres a chance of rain. Pitzips are useful for ventilation and hood works well. If you can get it on sale so its an even better deal and definitely worth the money. Seems pretty robust from the use I have given it and looking forward to taking it on more adventures. Good jacket at good price(much cheaper than goretex ones).

        Will keep you dry

My wife got this last spring and it has not let her down. It's a must for when we go camping and she even wore it spring skiing. It packs down easy so an obvious choice when you're headed into the wild in unsettled weather.

          Great Rain Jacket

I wanted a packable rain jacket that kept me dry, so I went for this one and am so glad I did!

It rained for 2 1/2 days on me in Yosemite and not once did I get soaked through. The rain just rolled off! I've also used it on those random rainy days we get in LA and stayed dry the whole time!

I also love that it has armpit zips so you can get some ventilation! The hood also packs into the collar which is cool for when you don't need it. I also like that the sleeves have a velcro adjustment for your wrist.

I got the Cherry Tomato color and absolutely love it! It's super bright :)

what is the difference between the 2015 and 2014 precip models?

Would you recommend this jacket for lightweight hiking

Did anybody else get the gemstone color and think it looked way more purple in real life than on the site? The gemstone is PURPLE. It looked much more blueish with a bit of purple on the site.

Does this jacket zip from the bottom as well as from the top? Is it lightweight and packable or heavier? Is it roomy enough to layer under? Thanks!

Hey! This is a great option to layer and it does only offer the one way zip option. It's also a VERY lightweight jacket with a great waterproof tech called NanoPro DWR, that really gives you a great waterproof rating and even greater breathability.

          Hope that helps!
