Thanks to its incredibly versatile design, the Marmot Women's Power Stretch Zip Hoody has a place on nearly any trip whether you're hiking, skiing, alpine climbing, or chilling in the park. Lightweight Polartec Power Stretch fleece fabric makes an ideal first or second layer, and it hugs your body to keep from tangling with your rain shell. Thumbholes keep your wrists from being exposed, and the hood adds tons of warmth when the temperatures plummet.
Bottom Line: Whatever you do, bring along the Marmot Power Stretch Zip Hoody.
I am 5'6 and medium sized chest with the average gut just like anyone else and usually wear a medium in shirts and sweaters but it seems everytime i get a jacket in a medium it's bigger than how i like them. I have the north face venture jacket in a small which is alot different than this kind of jacket because of material. Would a small be TOO small or just right?
Hi! All Marmot jackets will definately be more tailored than The North Face, and this Power Stretch runs on the small side of Marmot, too. I'm 5'6" and usually a small in shirts. I like my jackets to be semi fitted & I find that for most North Face shells or heavier jackets run BIG & to fit me right in the chest/waist, I'd need an XS. With Marmot, the small always fits me perfectly. Marmot tends to pay much more attention to fit/detail and will be more tailored than TNF(definately much more tailored than the Venture). I'd say your best bet with this jacket is to go with your usual size. Once you do, you'll probably forget all about TNF!
Bought this shirt for my girlfriend. She absolutely loved the shirt as far as comfort, fit, and warmth. Word of caution though....if you aren't going to wear the hood look into the quarter zip hoodless version. Same shirt, same material, no hood. The problem she had with the hood is that if you don't wear the hood it has to rest under your shell, which apparently was uncomfortable. She can be picky but if you don't think you will wear the hood i'd go with the hoodless option. Good quality craftsmanship and worth the pennies.

How would you say the sizing is on this jacket? I typically wear a small (5'2", 120lbs) but like my jackets a little roomie. Should I go with a M in that case or is a small true to size?
This fleece has come on almost every trip with me since I bought it. It's so soft and comfy and I love the hood and zippered pockets. I did burn a hole all the way through the pocket just by getting too close to my stove. Someone forgot that fleece is really melty. I still wear it and just don't use that pocket because it's great. Not really wind-proof but it's not supposed to be so I guess it's OK.
I just received this in the mail today. I love the colour - it's really vibrant blue. The photo is probably slightly lighter and the actual jacket is darker but it is vibrant which the photo conveys and what attracted me to the product. And I love the fit. I bought an XS and I'm 147cm tall (well short) and 46kg. It's really warm and I really like the option of the hoody for keeping my head warm.
Is this really a different weight from the one without the hood? Also, I'm 5'1'', 100lbs with a small chest...will this still be nice and fitted like I want it to be?
The Wm's Powerstretch hoody is 2 ozs heavier than the Wm's Powerstretch full zip jacket. It's designed as a under layering piece, so yes it's fairly fitted.
Super comfy, warm, perfect to wear climbing as a warm easy to move in layer over a climbing top or thin long sleeve top. Perfect for over base layer shirts and under a puffy or shell. If you're a fan of hoods with thumb loops you'll be psyched. I take it every where I climb.
After a lot of researching for the ideal fleece I found this jacket. It had everything I was looking for; warm but lightweight and form fitting, hood, thumbholes etc. I chatted with a Backcountry representative and they were very helpful recommending this jacket for my needs and wants.
This jacket is great to layer underneath a soft shell or wear on its own. I have worn it climbing in November in Colorado and just running errands at home. It keeps me warm and looks great. Its everything you could ask for in a form fitting fleece. It runs true to size- I am 5'3, 130 and got a small and it fits perfect.
Sam,The fabric is Polartec Power Stretch and it is 100% polyester. I describe it as a light, compressible, and it has a great warmth to weight ratio. It is a bit more expensive but worth it. I think it is my favorite layering piece.
I just got my hoodie a few days ago and love it already. Its super comfortable and the sizing is good. Its a bit lighter power stretch than I was expecting, but this isnt a bad thing, the hoodie still does its job of keepiing you warm and comfortable. Get one!
I have this version of the jacket without the hood. It is my favorite outer baselayer for skiing, and will be buying a few more for this season. I typically wear it over a merino wool long-sleeve baselayer on really cold days on the slopes to keep me warm. You can't go wrong with this jacket!
Great jacket. Sleeves are even long enough for me - I am 6' tall. This is hard to find. I always get comments on the bright color - got the blue o more...
Bought this shirt for my girlfriend. She absolutely loved the shirt as far as comfort, fit, and warmth. Word of caution though....if you aren't going more...
