Here's what others have to say...

not as advertised & not worth the price

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I'm a little disappointed with this jacket. I love he color combo and the softness of the fabric, but the outside of the fleece is already pilling, and I've only worn it a couple of times! Plus, the jacket runs large... I should have ordered a size down.

Also, the fabric is too loose of a weave to be wind-resistant. And, I wish the sleeves and thumb holes were made with more quality... for the price, it should have cuffs. So the advertisement has certainly promised some qualities that are lacking in this jacket.

Love Marmot

  • Fit: True to size

This is a wonderful item the arms are long and it can snag easily however the feel and comfort is amazing. There is a string that started coming out I have tied it so to not come completely out. <3

Very warm, very comfy. I wear this hiking and daily. Im not sure how well it will hold up in the long run, I am hoping well. I am usually a size small (5'6" 130LBS)but had to send it back for an XS which fits perfectly.

This is the best fleece jacket I think I have ever owned! (and my husband says I have too many). The material is soft and stretchy, so comfortable. I bought the green envy/leaf and have gotten many compliments on the color. This jacket does not cut wind, but keeps you plenty warm in 40-50 degree weather. I would imagine it would work well as insulation below a shell, but have not used it as such yet. My favorite feature of this jacket is that it's long. Most jackets are short on my front side due to my bust size, but this jacket comes down to the middle of my hips, and I can reach above my head without showing my stomach! Fantastic!

Awesome zip-up hoodie!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I bought this for a lady friend and she loves it. She uses it when she's touring and uses it as an under layer at the resort. She says it's super breathable. It runs a little big, but she likes it (that's what she said). Literally, that's what she said.

Best jacket, ever!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am a rather tall girl, with abnormally long arms. At least, whenever I try anything with long sleeves on, you'd think my arms were too long. This is the first jacket I have ever owned that fits well in the body and in arm length. Beautiful color, I get compliments every time I wear it. It is so comfy and cozy, I never want to take it off. A definite must have! I am excited to try other Marmot products!

Some pluses, some minuses

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I received this in a size small about three weeks ago, and have worn in about 10 times. The fabric is excellent, soft, stretchy, and very comfortable, while keeping you warm but dry. My less happy thoughts are that there is too much fabric for a size S; I wear S in just about everything and according to the measurements this was the size I should have chosen. The bottom hem has a cinch cord which has too little room to relax the cinch--- so even though my hips are only 33-34", smaller than the jacket, I can't relax the cinch cord enough when I want to. The body and sleeves are too roomy--I am 5'6" so not too short, measure 35-27-34--jacket should fit more closely, it's too baggy. Also, after just a few wears, there is pilling on my right forearm, and there is nothing I did other than normal wear to cause that.

Another fantastic product from Marmot!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm 5'9" and wear a small, and it's difficult to find things that are long enough in sleeve and body length. Marmot always comes through on that, and this top is fantastic. The hood and thumbholes make it great for layering with anything, and this year's blue/purple combo is awesome! I'll keep buying Marmot for a long time to come.

if I wear a small in a North Face jacket...

if I wear a small in a North Face jacket would I wear a small in this Marmot jacket too? Not sure since it says its an 'athletic fit'.

Responded on

The "Small" measurements for North Face and Marmot are juxtaposed as follows:
North Face Chest: 33-35 in ; Marmot Chest: 33-35 in
North Face Waist: 26-28 in; Marmot Waist: 25-27 in
North Face Hip: 35-36 in; Marmot Hip: 36-38 in
North Face Sleeve Length: 32 in; Marmot Sleeve Length: 31-32 in
North Face Inseam (short): 28 1/2 in;

North Face Inseam (regular): 30 1/2 in; Marmot Inseam (regular): 31 in

North Face Inseam (Long): 32 1/2in

Basically, I think the two companies are close enough in terms of attire sizing for tops that a Small in this jacket would be fine. Both of the size listings were taken from the each company's respective website to ensure that the sizes are accurate (insofar as the company is on point with their info).

Marmot states on their website (http://marmot.com/content/product-info/sizing) that an athletic fit consists of a "tailored shoulder, shaped waist, and fitted hem."

Hope this helps your decision.

I absolutely love this jacket! It is soft and one of the most comfortable jackets I have ever had in my life! It is super warm and stretchy which is perfect for climbing and other outdoor activities. I am 5'10 and weigh 110lbs and got a size XS and the fit is perfect!

Skookum Fleece

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Can't begin to tell all the compliments I've received on this jacket, love the color too (purple)! It is quite different from earlier versions of the Power Stretch, this one I find fits better and is warmer. It layers nicely under a shell, but not zip-in. The chest pocket is great for the small things you need when the snow is blowing sideways and don't want to open your jacket all the way. All in all this is a great product from Marmot.

Is this zip-in compatible with a marmot shell? If not, which fleece would you recommend that is?

Responded on

this is not a zip in.
