I'm 5'3", 105(ish) lbs. and ordered the XS (my waist is 23.5"/hips 33") and they fit like a dream.
I wore these all by themselves in extremely windy, frosty/snow flurry conditions -- clocking hours worth of low-20s hikes on the AT, and couldn't have been more comfortable. I also found they are stretchy enough to fit over my merino wool leggings, too. They're not 100% windproof, but it was nothing terribly uncomfortable when the wind kicks up. They also offer minimal protection against thorn bushes/sharp branches, so be careful in the brush & wear them under something more protective!

several commenters have said these are too tight in the waist and given their height and/or weight; HOWEVER, not a single one stated [their actual waist size vs. the size ordered]. NOT HELPFUL. My waist ranges between 27-30" depending on how much I scarfed "today", but my hips are a solid 37". Should I order a M or a L? I don't mind an ample butt because my "highly developed" lordosis means most base layer pants fit me like old man pants in the front and bikini bottoms in the back, plus pull on my upper thighs. I'm looking at these specifically because several skiers have told me that they are cut high in the back and low in the front - that's the shape I need ... now what size?!

You guessed right - I totally checked out the chart! Any suggestions from women who've worn these?

I own both the North Face GTD tights and the Marmot Power stretch pants. The Marmot pants are warmer and more comfortable than my North Face tights. I wear them all the time, but have not had a chance to go x-country skiing in them, which is really why I bought them. The fit is just OK, as I find the waist a little snug and the legs a little wide. However, they are very comfortable overall. After I bought these for myself, I also bought them for a friend as well. Look forward to wearing all winter in New Mexico.
Good find

I'm happy with these. They are a slim fit which makes them a great layering piece under some rain pants. The inside is soft and they're pretty warm without a lot of bulk. I'm also happy that they aren't too long for me. The cut makes it easy to kind of pull them up on your calves so they fall perfectly to your ankles with no worry or discomfort.
Pretty good..

Wore these for several days on the trail in hiking in Patagonia where you can have four seasons in one day. The pants were super comfortable and warm, and provided great wicking. My one complaint--I had a little chaffing from the pants after day one. It wasn't anything to cry about, but it was annoying. I switched to Neve's three days later and was just as warm w/ no chaffing. These are very snuggly though. It's nice to put them on when it's freezing outside.

These fit quite well. I would like it if they were a bit longer but other than that they are fine.

These Polartec pants are very soft and warm, but be aware that they are quite slim-fitting. Typically I would be an XS (5 ft, 100 lb), but I had to order a size M so that they would not be too tight in the waist. A small would've probably fit, but I imagine it would be slightly uncomfortable. The length is a bit too long because of this, but the tapered leg ensures that the bottoms stay up and don't get stepped on. Bottom line: a great mid-weight bottom, just be sure to order a size up or more.

I love these fuzzy, warm & stretchy pants. The outside is smooth and sleek, and the fleece weight is perfect for what I had in mind. The only reason I couldn't give them a full 5 stars is that they are too long (I'm 5'2" tall) - they should be offered in petite lengths as well.

Let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Marmot and trust the quality of their clothing. I was highly disappointed with the Marmot Powerstretch pants.
They are true to size and are warm, BUT I wore them once and they started pilting in several places. Now they are practically ruined.
Warm, Toasty Perfection

These are freaking awesome! I'm wearing them right now with some cargo pants on top, it's 16 degrees outside and my legs aren't cold. This is the coldest weather test I've done thus far. In terms of sizing, I'm almost 5'8" and 130 pounds I wear a size 1 or 3 jean depending on the brand. I have size small in these pants. They are a little tight in the waist (not painfully so, just not roomy) and reach just above the top of my ankle. I've worn these to run in, play rugby in, and as a base layer for my early morning winter dog walks. They definitely performed up to par in all these activities. My only complaint is if I don't have something over these and the wind blows, I feel the chill. Which is expected since they're only a base layer; not something to mark off points for, but just to keep in mind. Overall, these tights are warm, toasty perfection.
