Slip into the stretchy Marmot Power Stretch Pant whether you're headed out for a chilly morning jog or a January morning tour to your favorite stash. These midweight fleece layering pants come in handy when the temps drop hard. With their flat-lock seams and ergonomic design, the Power Stretch Pants provide plenty of warmth and a great fit whether you wear them under running shorts or ski pants.
Bottom Line: Fend off the chills with the Marmot Power Stretch Pant.
The Facts: The crotch isn't gusseted. The material, however, is stretchy; 88% polyester, 12% elastane. The pants I received were made in El Salvador. The stitching is black. The embroidered Marmot logo is either grey or dark purple and located on the lower right leg at the ankle, not the top right hip area. The fabric panels and stitching on the pants I received are not the same as shown in the picture; there is no separate panel or stitching on the outside of the calf going down to the ankle.
The Opinions: A gusseted crotch, while a nice extra feature, may not be needed given the stretch of the pants. I like the discrete Marmot logo at the ankle better than at the hip. The smaller number of fabric panels and reduced stitching on the pants I received may actually stretch better than the pants shown.
The Sizing: At 6' 4" and around 103 kg, the XL provides a snug fit in the waist and thighs. The length of the pants is on the longer side. Although these pants are made to fit close, one might want to try the XXL if a looser fit, especially in the waist, is preferred.
i talked to BC.com, to marmot, to make sure these where what i was looking for. Clearly no one i spoke with had intimate knowledge of the product. These are just basic medium to heavy weight fleece pants. Who would recommend that for high aerobic activity, i.e. running, climbing, skiing? Not me. Unless you're just looking for something to sit around in or sleep in look for something else. I've gone "for a morning jog" in -20 temps and wouldn't wear something this heavy... but perhaps that is a personal preference.

Polartec invented this material quite some time ago. it cam in 50/100/150 weights. This was the gradient to measure the temp or heat retention. those grades have since gone away. But every major manufacturer from Arc'teryx to Obermeyer has a top an bottom in the "150" wight power stretch. Recently loaned out my ten year old bottoms, that were still like new and have yet to have them returned. Oh well. I have since purchased a pair of Marmot and they work everybit as well. the only difference I see between any manufacturer is stitching patterns. all same material. they are bomber for everything . I run, hike ... climb... anything in the cold. wonderful for games too. I would however recommend using a residue free washer soap. or they get much more steamy as a result of blocked evaporation pores. the new win detergent from the Olympics is working fine. NO noticeable improvement over g-wash, nik-wax or pengiun. I have worn this suit top and bottom in northern Wisconsin in snow storms while out running on Lake superior and was plenty warm. I hope this helps.
i have heard in some of the reviews (in the woman's boot version and regular version of this bottom) that the color of the stitching is black, not white (taking away the distinctive design markings). Can a man who ordered these pants tell me the color of the stitching?
Works very well in the frigid sub zero temps and anywhere up to about 30 degrees if your going to be very active or about 45-50 if your going out for walks. con: hard to fit over my size 14 feet. Pro: fits my enormously large 6'6 body like a glove
I am wondering about the amount of fleece in these pants, or "warm" factor.I am looking for something to wear in fall/winter that can shed light snow or rain but don't like anything too warm...high aereobic activity will take care of that.are these the bottom layer i am looking for?
It is probably a personal pref on your part. I have a pair of pants made of the same Polartec Powerstretch material that are by far my favorite. I use them as a base layer when Alpine skiing, as an outer layer for xc skiing and yes I do also wear them inside all winter. They would be too warm for running if temps were 40 or above.
Once I finally received the package, I tried them on to make sure they would fit. I was very impressed with how fleecey they where on the inside. They are so comfortable and warm, I didn't want to take them off. I found I was warm enough with out any pants over top. They are great lounge pants. Love the stiching as well, great design.
These tights work well for cold conditions. They look great and are well made. I have used them for running in 25-30f conditions. I will use these as a base layer for colder conditions when skiing as well and I think they will be a great insulating layer. I have also used them as sweat pants around the house when its chilly and they are cozy warm goodness.
These turned out to be better than I expected. They are so soft inside and warm too. I finally found a pair of fleece pants that I like and are comfortable in. I recommend these for any guy looking to keep warm while outside in the cold, whether they are used as under layer or alone (of course depending on the weather). I love these enough to wear as lounge pants in my cold house :-).
These are unique and extremely comfortable athletic pants, more comfortable than tights and warmer. A couple of things. I'd wash them by hand. The waist band, which is fleece, twisted up on me. I just folded it down and they're fine. Sizing. They run slightly large. I am 6-1 165 and the large are a little big. The pants shrink a little in the wash but stretch back out. To tell you the truth, I'm still not sure about these pants. All I know is they're better than tights or sweats because they're so light and comfortable.
