Description

The Marmot Power Stretch Jacket—non-restrictive layering and plush warmth.

The slightly stretchy, go-anywhere do-anything Marmot Men's Power Stretch Full Zip Jacket gives you low-profile insulation whether you wear it alone over a base layer or under a hard shell. Marmot made this zip-up fleece jacket with Polartec's amazingly comfortable Power Stretch fleece. The Power Stretch Jacket's flat-lock seam construction won't rub you the wrong way, and the zipper chin guard plays nice with you face when you're fully zipped in. Stash your keys, power gel, or lip balm in the zippered front pockets and keep your nose drip under control with the soft nose wipe on the cuff.

Does anyone know how much this jacket weighs? And how it compares to the North Face Annapurna Fleece?

Does anyone know if the piping on the cocoa jacket is yellow or orange? On Marmot's site,it's shown as orange, but here it's shown as yellow.

Responded on

i would bet marmot's site photo/description is more accurate. almost everything i've purchased (or gone to the store to try on) from backcountry.com has been misrepresented color-wise from the photos on this site — sometimes the items are a better color in person, sometimes worse.

Awesome

This jacket is a MUST have for cool to cold weather hiking/climbing, skiing or even for casual wear. Its surprisingly warm without being bulky. Its also quite comfortable with a nice smooth finish on the outside and its stretchy. I got a large an I am 6-2 190 and fit perfectly, loose enough as not to look light tight fitting active wear but still feels close to the body. Could be cheaper but its worth it. Really a must have as base/mid layer or even as an outer layer on not so cold days.

as warm as a fleece polar 200!

I bought this to replace my old NF windbloc that gave me 8y of good service! About the Marmot Power Stretch:
- take on size smaller (I take normally L in European size (Rab, Icebreaker, etc), with this I had to take a M.
- fit is very good, collar also, sleeves are long enough if you want to make tumb holes.
- is it very compact and light (300g)
- is is very comfy and warm as a fleece 200
- it is slightly water repellent and wind resistant
Definitively a good purchase and perfect combination with a wind jacket!

not your daddy's fleece

I got this jacket to layer under my softshell and it quickly became part of my kit. It is the best fitting xl-fleece I have ever thrown over my 6' 210# bulk... nice long sleeves without the tentlike fit. And the powerstretch material isn't matted in dog hair like everything else I own. yet.

hello, I am 6' 3". 42 Chest and my arms are extra long. Will this fleece reach past my wrists?

Best Answer Responded on

I doubt it, but it depends on how long is "extra long" Im 6'2" and 46" chest and the the XXL fits me really well without being too tight.

Power Stretch Rocks!

I searched this out because I love Power Stretch and the few I have (which must be 10 years old now) were starting to look, well, not new. I really like the Marmot. It is heavier than my others and won't bridge seasons as well, but I've sure used it a lot this winter. The long sleeves are especially welcome as I have long arms and hate a gap at the wrist.

Amazing feel and functionality

The Power Stretch is a great lightweight layer or warn by itself. Stylish, yet functional. After I bought mine, I bought two more, one for my wife and one for my son (13) - because he kept wearing my wife's. I've always had high expectations for Marmot clothing and gear and this jacket will not disappoint.

Great fleece

Love the nosewipes. It keeps me warm. It's comfortable and has very long sleeves. (I pull them back over themselves when I'm doing things and let them hang over my hands when I'm cold).

wow!!

I'm a tall gal and bought this jacket in a men's small. It is absolutely wonderful!! My fiance had the half zip and we love it too. These two products have convinced me to get on the marmot bandwagon!

Hi,I'm a 46 chest and a 36 waist. Should I go with the XL or L for this item?ThanksJames

Responded on

Since it's a form fitting jacket and you're right on the line in the size chart I would recommend an XL also check the size by height and weight table.

Makes a nice light jacket

My girlfriend bought me this jacket as a christmas present:)
So i was reading the review by aj..., and i have to say, it's pretty much everything i would say about the jacket:
-it's warm and comfortable
-it's not wind or water proof
-it's a slim cut to wear under other layers
-i like the zippered pockets
biggest problem is that the bottom side of the forearm pills after a few weeks of wear (but doesn't effect the function of the jacket).
overall would buy again, in fact i own the half zip too.

Sweet Layer

This is an excellent insulating layer for the brisk chill of the outdoors. Add it to a nice base layer and you have a comfortable warmth to operate with for those moments when a softshell is too many layers for you.

Pros: Excellent insulator, performance fit, high collar helps with soft zip edges.
Cons: Not windproof nor waterproof at all(but not supposed to be), fabric on the underside of my forearm started to micro pill after only a few uses (probably from resting/rubbing my arms on tables).

Overall its a great addition to your wardrobe. Excellence.. I'd buy another if I had to, except the next time I'd get the blue one.

Perfect Layer for winter!

I bought the trousers with this as well the fit is perfect if you like the performance cut! You cant get much under the fleece i just wore a compression top. I wore the jacket and pants under an Arcteryx jacket and pants in Scotland and in the alps during winter time with out any problems, they are light and warm perfect for colder climates.

DaBomb: call it mid-base

Apples to apples: compare this Marmot piece to other powerstretch tops on the market (e.g. Mtn Hardware's best-in-class Powerstretch Zip T), and you'll notice right away that this is NOT A PERFORMANCE FIT item.
Granted fit will vary based on your build & sizing choice:
I am 6'1", 165 lbs, with a 35" sleeve length, and I had to go with the L to get the wrist coverage I needed.
Even with the Medium I tried, however, the torso cut was roomy & the hem length is unusually long: Marmot has taken a traditional base-layer fabric and given it a mid-layer jacket design with full-length zip and hand pockets, and the end result is a very Cloudveil-like, roomy, new-school fit.
Don't expect too much of this piece as a stand-alone jacket: powerstretch isn't designed for abrasion resistance, offers little wind-resistance, and pills much more quickly, say than Polartec's beefier Windpro hardface fleece.
Where I do agree with the previous reviewer: this piece is amazingly comfortable. It excels over a t-shirt as a breathable spring/fall travel layer, or over your base layer and under a shell for colder days where the base layer alone just isn't quite warm enough.

im skinny 5'11 155. i usually wear a medium in mnt. hardwear and a small in northface. should i get a small or medium?

Responded on

Medium. I'm 5'9" 140 and I got a Power Stretch quarter-zip in Medium and it's a bit big. I think the small would be too short.

performance cut

This is a form fitting item. Do not expect to get much but a very thin baselayer under it, but damn is it comfortable. Glad I purchased it

I'm looking for a fleece to do double duty. Stand alon jacket, and zip in additional insulation with my Marmot hard shell. What size is the main zipper, and does it have retention loops at the cuffs for snap into an outer shell?

Responded on

no it does not snap into a shell and it can stand alone over a base layer if it is not terribly windy for temperatures around 35, anything below that and you need a shell on top of it. great jacket though

Great mid-layer

This is not a typical fleece as one might expect from Marmot, but rather somewhere between fleece and softshell. It is certainly not windproof, but it is not intended to be. This jacket is great to wear over a compression top and under a waterproof shell as a mid-layer. it fits tight against the body keeping in warmth, and has ample comfort spots with really soft fleece, i.e. around the collar and wrists. Marmot tops, as a rule, have longer sleeve lengths, so if you need a mid-layer with a little more length in the sleeves, this lightweight, attractive fleece is for you!
