Great Jacket, but...

I liked everything about this fleece, except the color. I ordered the deep blue expecting a navy. Like others have mentioned, it is more of a bright or electric blue than a deep or navy.

What is the fit of this jacket? Is it fairly slim?
I measure 5 feet 10 but my waiste size is 30-31 and I weigh 140 lbs, so I always try to purchase slim designs whenever possible.

I hesitate between a size Small and a Medium.
My arms are longer than average (34 inches for shirts).

Responded on

I would suggest a medium.

Blue Not so Blue

I ordered this jacket in the Deep Blue. Pretty awesome jacket. Looks and feels warm. The Deep Blue I thought would be darker. I would say it is more of an aqua blue than a deep blue.

Is this the equivalent of 300 fleece weight or less (200)? How long is it in the back?

Responded on

Polartec thermal pro is generally a 200g/m2 fleece, however, comparatively, it should be around as warm as a 300-weight fleece.

Go for the XL

how does this compare to the mountain hardwear monkey jacket or the arcteryx delta sv (in terms of warmth/thickness/breathability)?

Responded on

It compares about the same as the Monkey Man for warmth and other aspects. The texture is totally different and depending on your tastes that could be good or bad. I do not have any experience to compare it to the Delta SV.

Great Fleece Jacket

I have been using this fleece jacket since I bought it last November. It is very warm and fits great underneath a shell. The fleece is soft, light and provides lots of insulation. If you are looking for a straightforward fleece jacket that fits good, looks good, and feels good then buy this!

Great fit, nice fleece

This is a REALLy nice piece. Super comfortable and a great fit. Fit is true to size and a bit on the athletic side. I'm 6'1", 190 and the Large is a good fit. The pockets are nice and there are drawcords to adjust the waist. The Forest green looks even better than the picture

Very nice nice fleece jacket

This is a very nice piece of kit...great construction, comfortable, and stylish. I truly like this jacket very much. Marmot lives up to its name with the quality in this one.

Powder 8

This is my fav. fleece!! im 5'11" and 140 pounds, and a size M fits great. its really warm and comfortable to wear, with good pockets, i love the chest pocket. i must also say though the angle wing movement isnt as effective as with other of my marmot jackets, and i think that the sleeves could be a bit longer (or maybe i have long arms!). still, the fit is great, quality is great, great jacket!

Responded on

Update to this review, this fleece is very quick drying, the fit is super, one thing tho, breathability is great as expected, however, the chest pocket does not breath well, so if you leave a camera in there it gets soaked... Other than that A+.

trying to decide on a jacket that can be used in the fall and spring around town, but also be layered under a shell when it gets colder. looking at this (the powder 8) and the Patagonia better sweater, and suggestions? if it helps i live in the north east but snowboard and travel out west during the winter

Responded on

pulled the trigger and got this. works well under a shell and looks great around town (my main reason for buying). its war, soft and i like it a lot. not windproof and doesnt have the greatest range of motion but it gets the job done

Nice fleece jacket

This is my favorite fleece. I use it for layering during AT skiing, Spring skiing and just wearing around the house during the winter. Really comfortable, performs well and looks sharp.

Will this zip into Marmot shells?

Will this zip into Marmot shells?

Responded on

No. For the most part Marmot is phasing out their zip-in system shells. The only mens liner still available, that is capable of zipping in, is the Cauldron Jacket (http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Marmot-Cauldron-Insulated-Jacket-Mens/MAR1251M.html).
