Perfect pair of jeans
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
I don't know what it is with Marmot and pants, but at least for me anyway, they can do no wrong. These pants are extremely comfortable, and the stretchy fabric makes them all the more so, especially when you're moving around. The Coolmax fabric is just icing on the cake.
Running long
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 30 Reg
Theses are my second pair. The first pair I got where 30 Reg and have had them for more than 6 years, and fit great. This pair is running long, same material, same size, just running long. I marked it "True to Size" only because they fit the waist as true to size, they are just running long.
Pipeline pant
Love these pants! I'm 5'11" 175... bought the 34/Reg . they were a little long but I washed them and now they are perfect! I want another pair.
Functional Fashion
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
These pants are amazing! love the fit of these. The stretch material cannot be understated. They move so freely makes it an easy choice since the best adventures just kinda happen and these will make sure you are ready for what comes next.
Great Fabric
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 36-32
Fabric has just enough stretch to take all wrinkles out of jean. I get plenty of observations and inquiries on how these jeans look and what they are respectively .
Stretch is cool!
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 32x32
I really enjoy how these pants fit. They are very comfortable and easy to wear. I purchased the Dark Indigo color, they are very dark, at first I thought they were black but they are a super nice color if you enjoy dark blue pants
Like the strech
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Size Bought: 34 reg
Fit is like an old pair of Levi's but with the comfort strech. Perfect for us guys over 40
Pretty good.
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:Runs large
- Size Bought: 30/Regular
The pants themselves are really comfortable and are very flexible. The color on the website and the color I received were a little off, the pants I got were a little lighter. The size around the wasted wasn't a problem, but I originally ordered 30/Regular and those ran really long. The pants are also loose and baggy around the calves. Overall I think they are really good jeans. They feel like quality pants and are very comfortable.
Solid Jeans
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 34 reg
Right away these jeans fit very comfortably. They have the perfect amount of stretch and they breathe better than plain cotton jeans. On the other hand, they aren't going to win any fashion shows. They're baggier than most modern jeans and for me that is what sets them apart. Although the baggieness might make them a bit less stylish, it also makes them far more functional than the skinny jeans most other company's are putting out. If you want a solid pair of tough, comfortable, no-nonsense jeans, these will fit the bill.
Functional, Comfortable, Quality
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 36 Long
These are not skinny jeans or hipster pants. And for me that's awesome. Like a couple other reviewers here, I'm a long-time skiier/cyclist/alpine climber, and so I have thighs and gluteal muscles. These are pants you can actually move in: I often sit cross legged on the floor, roll around when playing with my kids, and last but not least I can actually fit my wallet in the front pocket when I run to the grocery store. Sure, these will not have the same 'style' as some fancy Japanese denim 'raw' jeans, but let's call them for what they are: a solid product from Marmot for outdoorsy type people. I'd give them 5 stars all around, 5 stars for quality, comfort, and practicality; and maybe 4 stars for style (given the stretch, the seat/thigh patterning could stand to be *slightly* closer fitting without being tight).
For comparison sake, I wear 36 waist by 34 length in J-crew (regular fit--nothing 'skinny') and in Mountain Khakis (broadway style). These fit true to size. I also found them more comfortable and better fitting than patagonia's jeans.
Low rating due to size issue
- Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
- Fit:Runs large
- Size Bought: 32 long
I was pretty excited to get these pants but I was disappointed. I am 6'1", 175 and normally use 32 size - however in this case Marmot's 32 is more like 36 or 38. The stretch in the pant is very pronounced so I may be good with 28... however, it is just way too big. I think that they need to rework their sizing template and give it another go...
3 Years Solid
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: 32 Long
I always wore either Gap or Banana Republic jeans. I am 6â 5â, I (thought I) needed size 32x36, and these two brands were my go-to. That was, until August of 2012. That was when I started working at a Marmot store and was introduced to their Pipeline jeans. At first, I was skeptical because their 32/Long is a 32x34. But, thanks to the recommendation of others my height, I tried my first pair on. Needless to say, it has been 3 years and I have not worn any other jeans â not one single day.
The first thing I noticed was their stretch. Now, having been surrounded by the âstretchy-pantsâ phase during my adolescent years, this phrase is an instant turn-off. But these are different. The cut itself is baggy enough to fit properly, without making you look like Kramer wearing jeans. And the stretch is always there waiting to lend a helping hand when you inevitably crouch to the ground. I even had a friend at work who would wear his during the day and then climb in them at night.
There is also Coolmax built into the fibers. You will notice this on hot days. They include 5 pockets and extra fabric on the rear pockets â where you spend most of your time. Now, seeing how they are a 32x34, theyâre not quite as long as what most people my height would prefer, but this is a minor complaint when compared to how great they are to live in.
After three years, I still wear my first pair as well as the 4 others I have accumulated. I have fallen, done yard work, played outside with nephews and nieces, and spilled Krazy glue on them. Nothing has torn or broken. This stands in stark contrast to my old Gap/Banana Republic jeans, which had a maximum of a two year lifespan. But, should your pair get damaged, Marmot offers a Lifetime return policy on their products. They will either repair or replace your product, at no charge to you. Now, depending upon the time of year, it may take 3-4 weeks to receive your product, but every experience Iâve had has been great.
One last note I need to mention is how you wash your jeans. In my experience, in order to retain the color, itâs best not to wash them until theyâre actually dirty or stinky. And, to wash them inside out, using powdered detergent. By keeping them inside out, the jeans will wear based upon how you wear them and not based upon what they rub against in the wash. Powdered detergent is also easier on your clothing. While mostly recommended for waterproof shells, I use it while washing anything that I want to last a long time.
p.s. My attached picture shows the Dark Indigo and the left, and Vintage Blue on the right. The Vintage Blue is much newer and less-worn.
As comfortable as sweatpants
I bought the long version in dark indigo and will probably get the denim color soon. I don't really wear jeans while doing anything active aside from maybe mowing the lawn but the stretch factor really helps out the comfort level of these jeans. If you've ever been on a long airplane ride and been envious of the person in sweatpants sitting next to you but you have a "no sweatpants in public" rule, these jeans have your name written all over them.
best jeans i own
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
great fit and love the amount of stretch. super light weight and breathable. i love the fit. these are definitely not skinny hipster jeans (thank god). good pockets and fit.
Stretchy and comfy
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
- Fit:True to size
I'm with the other reviewers on this particular topic of fit - they're baggier than you'd expect, especially in the day of skinny jeans, but somehow they're so comfortable it really doesn't bother me to look like a 1992 skateboarder. Nah, just kidding they're not that big, but I think I'm going to throw them in the dryer and see what happens. Somehow the waist is spot on, the jeans just fit bigger everywhere else. They'll be great travel pants, for sure.
Best jeans
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
These are probably the best jeans I've ever owned. Love the Pipelines. There are a bit loose if you're looking for some tight jeans.
Sickest Jean ever made
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
If you're looking for the most comfortable and sharp looking jean I would highly recommend the Pipeline's. The touch of stretch makes these feel like sweatpants and highly differentiates these from a ghetto pair of $25 Old Navy jeans. The pockets are very functional and doesn't make your wallet feel like it's gonna bust a seam on you. I"m a 32" inseam and these feel perfect in terms of length in a size large.
Kinda short
- Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
- Fit:True to size
6' 220 and these ran a little shorter than I would like for a casual jean for kicking it around town. The material was awesome! stretchy. Just didn't fit as I would like.
Waist and legs fit as they should.
Hey matt, what length did you get? Marmot offers the Pipeline Jean in these lengths: Short, Regular, and Long (30, 32, and 34). While I'm 6'5" and normally take a 36 length from other brands, Marmot's Long fits me perfectly.
It was the Regular fit (last size available). I'll have to try the Long fit next time.
I have Marmot Palisades pants and it's...
I have Marmot Palisades pants and it's "XL" size. What is "XL" equivalent in numeric sizing?
Hey Igor,
The XL is going to be most similar to the 40 waist but Marmots XL is actually a 39 so it wont be exact.
Yep, same info is from marmot support:
-------------------------
Hi there,
An XL in the Palisades pants measures out to a 40" waist and 33.5" inseam. You would want a 40/Long in order to achieve the same fit.

Marmot is pretty sloppy with their size labeling.Luckily I was able to try on 5 pair in 2 years to get 2 pair of 36L-34W. It was worth it. Great jeans.!
