Pinnacle Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down - Women's

The Marmot Pinnacle Women's Sleeping Bag fits the curvaceous shape of a women's body, placing key insulation where women need it most, marking the Pinnacle in Marmot's Women's sleeping bag line. Since women tend to get colder than men, the Pinnacle has more insulation in critical areas of heat loss than unisex bags. Stuffed with insulating 800-fill goose down, Marmot also added the standard lovable features like a down-filled collar, a scratch-free face muff, and an 11-baffle foot box. Perfect for the lady who wants to snuggle up after a long day in the back country, the Pinnacle ensures comfortable nights without weighing down your pack. Take the Women's Pinnacle Sleeping Bag out for anything from a summer trip to the mountains to lightweight, alpine-style ascents.

Bottom Line: Fittingly warm and never a burden.

Down becomes nearly useless as an insulator if you allow it to get wet, while synthetic retains insulation qualities when wet.

The trade off (there's always trade offs) is that synthetics are usually heavier and pack bulkier. Want the lightest, easiest packing bag? A down bag with 800 or better fill is your choice. Just be sure you keep it dry!

Down:
•offers more warmth per weight, meaning a down 15° bag will weight less than a synthetic 15° bag
•less bulky, can be packed down to a smaller size
•cost more
•last much longer
•some people are allergic
•pain in the ass to clean properly

Synthetic:
•bags dry faster, making them a better choice for wet climates
•will eventually "deflate", the insulation gets matted down with use, affecting its ability to insulate properly
•cost less
•pretty easy to clean

I'm sure I've forgotten some points, but hopefully this can help you make your decision!

For some reason, Marmot does not make the Women's Helium or Women's Pinnacle in "Long". Do they plan to do so in the future? Thanks

You may want to voice you comments to the vendor; http://marmot.com/In the mean time, I would suggest a Mens bag.

Great sleeping bag

By:
October 10, 2008

I bought the mens model and this one. A great sleeping bag. It packs down really small and it is nice and fluffy after a few moments out of the stuff sack. The stuff sack is not waterproof. Marmot delivers the bag with a huge storage sack as well. We have used them from 15 to -5 deg C so far and it is nice and warm with a good sleeping pad (Exped Downmat). Them mens regular model is a little bit longer but they fit well togheter if you buy reft and right models. The female model even has a small pocket near the top...i guess for earrings :)
