The Marmot Men’s Pallisades Jacket includes a removable helmet and removable powder skirt to provide you the versatility for anything from mountaineering to backcountry skiing. Gore-Tex Performance fabric protects from the worst weather you encounter in the mountains, and a combination of excellent breathability and Pitzips help you stay cool when the going gets strenuous. Marmot also included their Zippin system, so you can add a fleece or synthetic layer to make this jacket warm enough for the season’s coldest days.

Bottom Line: For all mountain sports.

Marmot Pallisades - Exactly what I wanted

By:
July 29, 2009

I am very happy with my Pallisades jacket and it is exactly what I wanted for down hill skiing. It is well made and has all the features I was looking for downhill skiing - light weight shell with minimal lining; zip off hood so there is no flapping hood and bulging collar if stowed; zip out powder skirt for non powder days; pit zips to vent off heat when you warm up; 3 external pockets and 1 internal pocket to stash items; sufficient adjustment options to retain heat or vent off heat. I also have a Marmot Cloudlight jacket which does not have any lining that I have skiied in for two years but it is more comfortable to have the minimalist lining in the Pallisades. The cut and panel alignment also mean there was no restriction in arm and shoulder movement. I love it!

Love this Coat!

A fantastic shell, in a gear world saturated with expensive performance gear, this coat stands alone. It performs flawlessly with it's bomb proof Gore Tex outer shell. Removable powder skirt and hood, what more can you ask for? Sizing is good for layering and Marmot fleeces zip in too. Large fits my 5'9" 175 lbs frame, roomy for layering, but it is a shell. Totally worth the $$, get it.

Does anyone know the zippin options for this jacket? It seems

Does anyone know the zippin options for this jacket? It seems that the zipper pattern on most of the Marmot fleece jackets does not match the tooth pattern on the Palisades - leaving the zippin options very limited. I recently tried the reactor jacket and it does not work with the Palisades (and the same zipper tooth pattern appears to be on the Warmlight and Approaach jaackets). The Cauldron and Baffin ziippers look like they might work with the Palisades, but I am looking
for something a little lighter for layering.

The only zippin compatible liners for fall 2010 are the Cauldron Jacket and Vest.

sweet shell

this jacket has been a perfect shell for hiking and backpacking to warm weather skiing in So. Cal. fully waterproof and it breaths well. its a lilttle big in the fit but it allows plently of room to layer up on colder adventures. in my opinion marmot has the highest quality in there outdoor performance gear.

This jacket rocks!

By:

I bought this coat in September but wanted to wait to review it until I had a chance to test it in the COLD Iowa weather. Nothing but praise for this coat...

It's a sweet shell, with excellent pit zips and I love the outer chest pocket (perfect for wallet or car keys or blackberry, etc.). The hood adjusts nicely as well.

I have worn this coat for walks across a large college campus in -10F temps and was fairly warm with only a poly-pro underneath. The large teeth zipper would make it easy to zip in a micro jacket or fleece.

I also tested this in two HEAVY rainstorms and I stayed perfectly dry. This is a sweet Gore-Tex shell.

31" from neck to bottom, 19" from arm pit to bottom, on a large. Collar has a light soft liner which resembles a fleece, very comfortable. One large interior zip pocket. Powder skirt zips in but doesnt snap down when your not using it. Check out the Marmot Free Flight pants.

Review Title

Size is very very big. I like the features and the feel of the jacket, but the sizing is waay off. Even with a thick insulated jacket under this, I still felt like it consumed me. I'm 5'10" and 165 (40" chest), so I medium usually fits me well with a little room to spare. I felt like I would need an XS for this to fit right (even with) insulation. Otherwise it's a really nice jacket, but Backcountry.com has such an excellent return policy, I decided to use it.

Recommended...Check fit first!

This shell is definitely bombproof. It doesn't fit as well as I'd like though. It's baggy through the torso and short in the sleeves. Even with all my layers on it still swallows me. Functionally it is a great shell though.

My husband loves his Marmot shell - it's a real upgrade from what he's used to. It's breathable, seriously wind-resistant and comfortable. It looks great too!

Great shell. Definitely wind/rain proof. I had to exchange to get a smaller size...remember, these jackets are made to accommodate layers, so they run a bit bigger. Marmot rules. Backcountry's service was great too.
