Skiing, ice climbing, mountaineering, backpacking—whenever your lower half is in need of some waterproof breathable protection, slip on the Marmot Men’s Palisades Pant. Thanks to ultra-durable, waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Performance Shell, the Palisades seals out moisture in any season. Cordura reinforcements on the ankles hold up to crampon spikes and ski edges, while the attached gaiters keep out powder on deep days.
Bottom Line: Take on foul conditions in any season with the Palisades Pant.
A solid Gore-Tex pant. 6'0", 155, 31-32 inch waist.
Fits me well, they are slightly baggy. Very comfortable, soft on the inside, I spent a few days with nothing under the pants. Gore-Tex performance shell is soft and durable. DWR is not the greatest on these, but they offer great waterproof protection at a good price. I've been happy with mine.
These are a reasonably tough pair of pants, especially for the price. At 5 feet 11, 180 pounds and 33 to 34 inches at the waist I opted for the large. These pants have a jean style shape and I thought the overall volume was good and roomy, but found the inseam a bit too long. To me these are too light weight for climbing and mountaineering use. After using Gore-Tex Pro Shell I don't really care for the feel of the Performance Shell and Marmot's choice of face fabric is lacking. In reality these will work for many and are likely a good value for the money. Just not my style and thus returned.

they worked well for me on a short back country trip where i snow shoed in. they don't have insulation, so if you're talking about staying in bounds at a resort you would need some serious base layers
It's hard for me to find the right fit in these kind of pants since i like baggy and i have short legs. i'm a stocky build so although the pants fit right at the waist through the legs...they drag under my heels. they are gore tex so it's hard to say they're anything but great.
I wear a medium in these pants and all other gear, and I have room to layer a softshell pant or a thick base layer. I'm 6 feet and 167 lbs with a 32 waist.
These pants are not quite as durable as they're marketed to be. Thin materials have allowed two rips to occur in my pants after just a couple of weeks. Also, they are not 100% waterproof as advertised. while sitting on my snowmobile, water soaks through the seat of my pants slightly. overall they are an adequate pair of pants, but their overall construction and performance could be better given their $200 price tag.
Taz, I picked up a pair of Arcteryx Alpha SL for fastpacking and could not be happier with the purchase. They are super lightweight, durable and pack down to nearly nothing. At $200 you are paying a premium for a Paclite pant, but no regrets here.
Yes, in terms of waterproofness they would be fine, however, they are a 2 ply pant (with a hung lining)and for an adventure race I would suggest Gore tex Paclite (no lining) as they will be lighter and more compact. Check out the Marmot Minimalist Pant that weighs 10 oz vs 18 oz for the Palisade. The Palisade pant are great for snowsports and heavy duty hiking.
Im 6'1 and 85kgs, should have ordered the medium instead of large. Awesome pants but I didnt do too well with the sizing and they have been put into the "back-up kit" pile. They would be perfect had I got the size right.
Im considering getting these pants mostly for hiking, but while they seem awesome, im concerned about durability and toughness. i have heard some Marmot pants are prone to ripping after just light use, if you have these pants or know them well, convince me otherwise!! Thanks in advanced!
Marmot makes a variety of pants with a variety of weights of fabrics. Lighter weight fabrics make for a lighter, more packable garment, but sacrifice a bit in terms of durability. The Palisades pants have a fairly burly 4.2 oz Gore-tex fabric and so are skewed toward the durable side and they should work great for your needs. Hope this helps.
Pants look great, but haven't had a chance to try them as snow hasn't arrived yet :( But please note that I couldn't find adjustable waist tabs so maybe web site entry / description should be updated to reflect that.

Marmot Palisades Pant are not listed as ski pants on Marmot's website, but they work great. Used these in Taos Ski Valley, NM in temperatures ranging from the upper teens to about 30 degrees. Sun, wind, snow... I stayed warm and dry with a single base layer and these pants (even after a spill or two while going down some moguls). Fit true to size. Slightly relaxed in the thigh without being too baggy. Recommend.
