Gore-Tex protection with a zip-off powder skirt for resort, backcountry, and snowshoeing adventures.
While the Marmot Women's Palisades Jacket isn't made from wooden stakes or tree trunks, it is a defensive structure that protects you against inclement weather all year long. A combination of waterproof, breathable fabric and deliberate design results in a weatherproof jacket that won't ride up when you're reaching for a hold, doing the wave, or straining to grab ahold of your daredevil toddler before she tries to launch herself off the top step on a skateboard.
GoreTex fabric guarantees waterproof and windproof protection, all without drowning your body in trapped hot, sweaty air. Due to a size differential between liquid and gas molecules, rain and snow cannot penetrate the fabric, but sweat vapor escapes without issue. Taped seams eliminate micro openings for water to enter, and the removable storm hood protects your noggin from the deluge. If you're skinning up in a snowstorm or backpacking in southern Appalachia, chances are you're testing the strength of your deodorant. Let things air out a bit with underarm zip vents that extend down your torso for rapid cooling.
Angel-Wing Movement is Marmot's deliberate design feature that allows you full range of motion with your arms, without the jacket following suit. A zip-off powder skirt gives you on-hill and in-town options. An internal zipped media pocket means you can sled and take a call, though texting and sledding is not recommended. When it's a warm rainy day, your favorite t-shirt is the perfect layer under this jacket; when Mother Nature throws thunder-snow and screaming winds your way, a sleek down jacket or heavy-weight thermal layer underneath keeps the cold from creeping all the way in.

Immediately loved it!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
Absolutely wind and waterproof. Nice stand-up collar ultra comfortable fuzzy-lined. Classic Marmot fit and great quality. Really nice features: deep pockets, pocket on end of sleeve, velcro closures over all zippers and pockets, pit zips, adjustable cords on bottom and hood to snug up, soft supple material, zip off powder skirt and hood. The hood is not in the way and I don't even know it's there; may just leave it on. Very, very nice quality and extremely comfortable. Love at first sight! I could tell right away and clipped the tags off within minutes! Great jacket for 35+ degrees or 10-35 degrees with something under it.
Caught it on sale and if I could get another color at the same price, I would!!
