The Marmot Men’s Palisades Jacket throws out burly Gore-Tex Performance protection for serious winter weather. This fortress of a jacket keeps out moisture and wind while letting your body breathe, so you'll be protected whether you get stuck halfway up the Grand Teton in a storm or you ski the backside of Snowbird in a whiteout.

  • Gore-Tex Performance fabric gives you burly protection from moisture and wind while letting water vapor escape
  • Fully taped seams block moisture from sleazing its way in through the stitching
  • Underarm zip vents let you ditch extra heat and bring in fresh air
  • Removable powder skirt keeps snow from drenching your back if you go down in the freshies, and you can take it out so you're not so bulky around town
  • Angel-Wing Movement gives you room to move your arms without pulling your hem up
  • Drawcord hem lets you seal out the elements when the wind tries to whip snow up your backside
  • Zip-in compatibility makes it simple to combine this shell with a Marmot mid-layer for extra warmth

Bottom Line: Huge protection from nasty weather.

A couple of quick questions: Will the hood on the Palisade jacket

A couple of quick questions:
Will the hood on the Palisade jacket fit over a helmet, similar to the Marmot Spire?
What are the major differences between the spire and palisade?

Yes, the hood should fit over a helmet. The Spire is a 3 ply jacket (no liner and hence lighter weight and more packable). The Palisades is a 2 ply jacket (has a liner, so a bit warmer) It also have a zip in track.

Does anyone have any feedback on this one? Build quality? Fit?

Does anyone have any feedback on this one? Build quality? Fit? Function? Price seems great for a Gore-tex shell...Would it be good for snowboarding?

Jason,
The Jacket is a great jacket. Im pretty picky when it comes to the jackets I buy. I bought this jacket two years ago for snowboarding and it has exceeded my expectations. The Gore-Tex has worked flawlessly, haven't got wet at all in rain/mix or snow.
Its really durable and has no tears/stresses due to wear whatsoever after two years of use. Does not have an insulated layer but is still pretty warm by itself on the warmer days, but works perfect for cold days with a layer under. Also it allows for easy movement and is not restricting and has good sized pockets. HOpe this answers your questions.
