Make an effort to ditch the crowds.

Summer might bring mild weather, but it also brings crowded trails, so use frigid winter temps to your advantage and head to the mountains with your Marmot Never Summer 0 Degree Down Sleeping Bag once the temperatures drop. Stuffed full of Marmot's water-resistant Down Defender 650-fill down, the Never Summer is rated to keep you warm when temperatures drop to single digits, and its ripstop fabric has been treated with a DWR coating for a bit more protection from light snow flurries and condensation that might accumulate along the walls of your tent. The Never Summer bag has a basic mummy shape with an anatomic footbox to give your feet some extra room to roam, a Nautilus hood that cinches down tightly around your noggin, and a full-length zipper that's backed by a snag-free insulated draft tube to help prevent heat loss through the zipper. There are also internal stash pockets the make it easy to keep your headlamp and a small midnight snack where you can reach them.

    Great mountain bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I slept in this bag for 8 nights on Mt. Shuksan, in the northern cascades. Lowest temps got was in the teens. This bag kept me very warm, especially in the feet. I usually have cold feet when I sleep, but the footbox on this bag is well insulated, so I had cozy toes at night.
The head was not as warm. I slept with a thicker hat than normal. I think the weight of my head compressed the down and caused my head to be cold. Not an issue, I just wore a hat.
The water-resistance was great. I expect that, since it's a brand new bag. My tent leaked something fierce, and every morning my tent contents were wet. The outside of the bag would be covered with condensation, and some parts were even laying in a small pool of water at times. The interior of the bag stayed dry the whole time, keeping me nice and warm.
I'd definitely recommend this bag. Just bring a hat.

Excellent Down Fill Bag At A Great Price

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this several nights in 15-20F degree weather and it was superb! I have limited experience with real Down fill bags and have traditionally used only synthetic bags. As expected, this bag is considerably lighter, packs smaller and is very comfortable through varying temperature ranges. The zipper seems well designed to try and minimize snagging. The zipper baffles did a great job at keeping out the creeping cold.

Contents includes both a standard stuff sack and large storage sack. I used a large Sea-to-Summit eVent compression dry sack and it packed down to half the volume of the stuff sack.

    Fitment:
I am 5'11", 165lbs and opted for the "long" bag just to have some extra room. I probably could have been comfortable in the standard length bag but am happy with the extra lenght and minimal added weight. The footbox was ample for my size 12US feet and the hood was also a good size for my 7 3/8" noggin.

Cons: Slightly heavier than a 800+ Down bag

Pros: Good fit, great quality, packs small, handles damp environments well, excellent price for performance

    Recommendations:
Good for Backpacking, Winter Sports, Moderate Mountaineering
