Long underwear can get pretty smelly on a weeklong trip, which is why Marmot embedded the Polartec Power Dry fleece in its Women's Midweight Bottom with Cocona fibers to keep the funk factor mellow when you head to the mountains.

  • Polartec Power Dry performance fabric wicks well, dries quickly, breathes like a champ, and retains just the right amount of warmth for cool shoulder-season days
  • Embedded elastane provides extra stretch for unrestricted mobility
  • Cocona fibers embedded in fabric are derived from natural sources (coconuts) and provide long-lasting odor resistance to prevent smells from accumulating in fabric
  • Marmot UpCycle tech means that the product features polyester made from recycled materials
  • Flatlock stitching helps reduce chafing
  • Gusseted inseam provides added mobility

Thank goodness they are LONG!

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have struggled all my life to find bottoms that are long enough for my 34" inseam, and these cut the rug! It is so refreshing to put on a pair of long johns and not have them creep midway up your calf. They are also warm and comfy, but they had my at long....

great for under a loose fitting pant

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I LOVE these! They are a great base layer. Very warm. BUT they run large. I am 5'9" about 145 and have large hips. I have a medium and they are loose but they are also plenty long. Great under a loos fitting pant but much bulkier in comparison to an Under Armour base layer.

Good but not Great

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I took this and the top on a 7 day back packing trip to Isle Royale in late September. The temps were between 30-40 degrees every night so I bought this as in camp/sleeping base layers. They were comfy and really warm but I completely disagree with the statement that they keep down the smells (the clothes I hiked in all day smelled better after 5 days than these did sleeping in them for 2). Luckily they dry super fast so I'd dunk them in the lake every night and without soap the funky smell did go away (thank god) but sadly on our last night we had a campfire and after 5-6 machine washings they still smell deeply of burning wood. Total bummer I think next time I will go back to Capilene.
