Fantastic

I guess this has been reborn in the Super Mica, but wanted to drop some praise for an incredibly light, totally downpour-proof jacket. This thing has kept me super dry and is long enough for my monkey arms and abnormally long torso (6'0", got a medium). Packs down so small it is perfect for backpacking. I've also kept it in my pocket during outdoor concerts and oh man is it satisfying to be the smug dry guy.

Works Well

I've had this jacket for a couple of years and is exactly what the description says..... a protection without the bells and whistles rain jacket. There are absolutely no extras. . . thus the 7 oz. weight. I take this on all my backpacking trips because it is light and comfortable with the pack. As Ian said below, it fits tight. I'm about the same size as Ian and I got large as well. I wished I would have gotten an XL, because there is not much room for layering. Although it has kept me dry numerous times,I hesitate boasting about it's waterproof abilities because I have not been in a downpour with it. My wife has the Marmot Precip and I'm always jealous of it. It has the pit zips and a bit sturdier material for not much more in weight. I also wear it quite a bit road and mountain biking when I know it is going to be cold.

The Best for Backpacking

By:

This is my goto rainjacket for backpacking. Its cut tight so it doesn't bunch underneath a backpack, the hood has good coverage and moves well with your head, and the pockets are big enough to hold what you need. I'm average size 6'0" 190lbs and the large is a good fit. It is just big enough to layer the montbell ul down inner jacket in a pinch but if you want to do this very often I would go a size up in the Mica. I've worn this thing in serious rain downpour and the 20/20k rating keeps it all out, it outperforms more expensive jackets. When i'm not wearing it I pack it into a sandwich ziptop bag and keep it in my pack. Its awesome and well worth the money!
