    Sadly returning again

I really wanted these to be "the ones", have tried so many brands of zip off hiking pants. They are great in every way, love that they roll up to be capris and zip off to be shorts, fabric feels smooth and durable, but I just can't find my size. Read the reviews and ordered a size 8 (I usually wear 6), but they were too baggy, even in the waist which is usually tight on me. Returned those and ordered a size 6, but they are way too small in both hips and waist, and very tight around the legs too. There is a huge difference between the two sizes.

    Functional and cute

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:Runs small
    • Size Bought: 6

I'm 130 lbs 5' 7" and ordered a size 6. They're a little loose on the waist, but the zipper part is a bit snug on my thighs. A 4 might have fit my waist a little better though I'm not sure it would fit my thighs.

These pants are lightweight and the 3 lengths are flattering. I like that they aren't too baggy and shapeless. They stretch so I don't anticipate having any issues scrambling around in them.

Looking forward to wearing them on my next hike!

    Great Pant

You may see a review of these pants that I posted a little over a year ago and I am back again. My sister loved mine so much that she put it on her birthday list this year. Overall I can say we have both been sold on Marmot and I honestly love the versatility this style offers for a any weather you could encounter (shorts, capri, and pants). The pant material is light weight, quick drying, and durable (the dogs have tested this one by jumping up on me). I would highly recommend. I can confirm that the sizing has not change within the past year and you will likely still want to size up. I typically wear 4 and sized up to a 6. My sister wears a 2 and is exchanging for a 4.

    My size: 5'7, 135lbs
    Sister: 5'4, 115-120lbs

Thank you for listing your height and weight and your sister's height and weight. A review with this information is helpful when referring to size and fit, justified your comment! I am 5'3" and 105lbs and your information is helpful. I never understand why others are not more specific. Thank you!

Least baggy zip off pants for women

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:Runs small
    • Size Bought: 4

I've tried on several pairs of women zip off pants, these are the least baggy of them all. I wear size 0 or 25 in jeans, in these marmot pants i got a size 2 and 4. The 2 fits perfectly on the waist but extremely tight on the thigh. The biggest circumference of my thigh measures about 20in. The 4 fits great on the legs, but a little bit large on the waist. Will be keeping the size 4.

    Comparisons:
    1. Prana Sage - Tried a size 0, large in the waist, legs are pretty baggy, didn't buy them
    2. Prana Halle - size 0 fits perfectly in the waist and legs. Definitely recommend these, but they are not zip offs, just roll up pants. Still comfy and durable. Used them backpacking in Alaska for days, and didn't stretch out over time.
    3. TNF Verto pants - size 2, these pants have a great light fabric, size 2 is a little bit large on the waist but doable. However these did stretch out quite a bit over several days of continuous wearing.

    Great all around pants

Took these out for a early morning day hike straight up a mountain, keeping them at the rolled up capri length. Excellent moisture wicking (dried out almost instantly once I stopped moving and sweating). Shed water like a pro when it started to rain--I didn't have to break out my heavy and not-so-breathable rain gear. My favorite part was the soft lining at the waist--absolutely did not feel them even with my pack's waist belt. Also took them to the gym and did some climbing--comfortable even with a harness, flexible and loose enough for leg movement. Haven't used the shorts option yet, but am looking forward to it!
Given the option, I may consider downsizing to a 4 (6 falls down my waist a bit too much for my liking.) but keeping in mind the need for a baselayer in colder weather, I think I will stick to the 6.

    Impressed!

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: 6

My first hiking shorts/pants but I have been wearing them anytime I need ease-of-movement and will be hot such as with gardening. Very comfortable waist and the side pocket is super handy for my chapstick and those little items. 5'7" 130 pounds, athletic thin build, normally wear a size six and the six fits perfectly. I'm buying a second pair.

    Skinny cut, seconded

I've been eyeing these pants for awhile; on the lookout for a pair of convertibles that can gracefully handle athletic thighs. Sadly, these are not it. I'm 5'6", 135-140lbs, with a fairly small build and athletic thighs. Size 6 fit perfect in the waist, but were constrictive in the thighs. For climbing, this is a no-go. Material seemed great, and pockets were adequately sized. Such a bummer on the thighs! Thankfully I finally found a match in the Outdoor Research Ferrosi convertibles (size 6). Material is more buttery, to boot.

    Super skinny cut

    • Size Bought: 2

The legs on these pants are very narrow. If you have muscular legs consider sizing up. I usually wear a size 2 or XS and could barely get the zip off section of the leg above my knee. That said, the pants are well made, stylish and look functional but the leg cut did not work for me at all.

    Well made pants

    • Size Bought: 8

I really like the quality of these pants and the roll up/zip off concept. I just wish someone would make this kind of pant for someone with a small waist relative to their hips. The size 8 fit me fine in the hips but not in the waist. I also would like to see the point where the pants zip off be a little looser. Many women who hike do not have skinny legs.

Seem like they'd make a great pant...

    • Fit:Runs large
    • Size Bought: 6

I liked the cut of these pants with their narrower leg - they seem more stylish & street ready than most other convertibles. I ordered a size up from my usual, based on some of the other reviews as well as the online size chart. Unfortunately they didn't fit; I think they run large as I'd probably need to go down two sizes from what I ordered.

    Perfect for the desert!

Tested these babies in the desert over the weekend and they were ideal! From the advice of other reviews, I sized up, but I probably could have gone with my normal size and been OK.

    Perfect for the desert!

    Great pants except ---

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I like these pants. They move well. They are comfortable. The problem I had was with the front pockets. I lost my pedometer because it slipped right out when I was sitting down. The pockets are shallow and don't have Velcro to keep them closed. I also wish there were two zippered pockets on the legs, maybe like cargo pants. I am going to put my own Velcro on the front pockets. I also wish they were just a little longer as I am tall.

    trouser legs is huge

the zip part feel little bit tight. when I move, always feel the zip on my skin. But the end of the legs are really huge, they can wrap my feet

    Best Hiking Pants Period

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: 10

These are great hiking pants that have a nice stretch to them, which enables a great deal of versatility. They can be used for rock climbing or all day hikes. They have a nice tough but light material that makes them easy to layer so they can be worn year round. The capri option is great as is the ability to remove the lower legs and wear as shorts. One of the best pair of hiking pants I've ever purchased. I thought they were pricy at first, but having worn them on many grueling hikes and several climbs, they are worth every penny. I got the size 10, but I usually wear an 8. They are a little large and I need a belt for them, but that makes layering easier.

    Love Them!

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:Runs small

I bought these pants for hiking in variable conditions and they are wonderful. I would agree that the sizing is off, but they work well for my build. While typically a 4 (135lbs, 5'7, and 32'' inseam), in this style I fit best in a 6.

The pants held up to the test on my trip as we encountered not only light rain, but driving rain and temperatures ranging from 80's to 50's. I have not utilize the zip off feature much at this time, but the zippers seem to zip on and off easily and the seam on the thigh for the shorts zipper does not bother me. The fabric is quick drying and slightly water resistant when in a light light rain.

    Love Them!

    Messed up

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs small

After reading the other reviews, I sized up on these pants and they were huge. I exchanged for my right size (2), and found out what everyone is complaining about. It felt like they disproportionately sized down the small sizes- like they eyeballed the pattern and said, 'Let's lop off a couple inches here and that will work!' Awful, awful and really awkward. Too bad, because the fabric seemed nice and I really liked the zip off shorts along with the roll up bottom. What a disappointment.

    awesome pants

wore these pants for a week in iceland. not only are they super comfy, but theyre actually waterproof. there was constant light rain plus water misting from waterfalls and i was completely dry. even while getting pelted with snow on top of a glacier..

    awesome pants

I'm 5'3" 110-115lbs. Normally I wear a 0 or 2. My shape is more athletic - not stick skinny or real curvy. My legs are somewhat muscular. I got these in a size 2 and could barely get them buttoned and they were really tight in the legs. I tried a size 4 in another style of Marmot pants and they were still tighter than I would like in a hiking pant. The legs were tight in the thighs and kept riding up. Every other brand of pant in size 4 is too big for me. Other than that I like the style and fabric - the waistband is nice and soft & doesn't pinch. Fabric is slightly stretchy so it moves with you. For someone with really thin legs this would be a great pair of pants.

Hi. I wanted to get these pants in size 2 (as it's my usual size as well) but after your review I'm not sure anymore. It would really help me if you would be willing to share your waist/hips/tigh measurments. Then I could see how accurate their sizing chart is. Thank you! (i'm heading for a trip soon and wouldn't have time to return wrong size)
