Description

Stone-cold quality for 6.

The Marmot Limestone 6-Person 3-Season Tent isn't really something you want toss on your back and head out on the trail with, but for car camping or backyard excursions, it's the perfect shelter for the whole family (provided you're not trying to single-handedly repopulate a desolate planet). It sleeps six without trouble, and is tall enough (6ft 3in!) that an adult can stand up without bumping their head on the ceiling. Two horizontal poles provide tons of horizontal head room, too, and the Limestone sets up in minutes, as the four DAC aluminum poles, clips, and sleeves are color-coded to avoid confusion.

Once it's pitched, the whole crew will dig the space, which is boosted by two doors with giant vestibules so you don't have to bring gear, or Spot the Newfoundland, inside if it's wet. Nor will you have to worry about water getting in, since the Limestone's polyester fly, nylon floor, and polyester walls have fully taped seams and DWR coatings to repel moisture. The mesh walls and fly vents work together to keep air circulating even if the skies open up, and the reflective guy-out points keep you from tripping and bringing the whole shebang down in heap when you make a mad nighttime dash to the bathroom.

  • 68D polyester ripstop fly
  • 40D polyester No-See-Um mesh canopy
  • 75D polyester walls and 150D nylon floors
  • Fully taped seams
  • Four DAC DA17 aluminum poles with color-coded clips and sleeves
  • Two doors with vestibules
  • Reflective guy-out points and jingle-free zippers
  • Internal pockets

Think twice before buying Marmot!

This is mainly about their warranty and customer service. Not about the Limelight but wanted all to know how Marmot is about their warranty. (Purchased the Capstone 6) I purchased a Marmot because I have had cheap tents that leaked in the rain. The 1st camping trip all was ok as it did not rain. But in October 2014 using the tent for the second time. After a night of moderate rain, we discovered the floor had leaked in several places and especially under our sleeping pads and 2 large puddles of water in one of the corners. There were 2 other Marmot tents in our group (Halo 6) no leaks. Called Marmot and all we heard was what we must have done wrong to cause the tent to leak. We return the tent and of course we had to pay shipping of $94. So now I have around $750 in the tent.
Anyway, Marmot calls saying that we must have put the footprint upside down. And all the water in the corner was because we did not put the tent up correctly. I then told him that the floor is supposed to be waterproof, he did not deny this but just said they pressure checked the floor and it did not leak. I informed him that everyone else was just using a Walmart tarp under their tent. He said the puddles of water were caused from me not setting up the tent correctly and allowing the fly to touch the tent. He said the fly was waterproof but the tent was not. If the fly was waterproof how did water get in the tent as the water could not have penetrated the fly? Therefore, the fly would have to be defective or no water could have got to the tent. The fly was not touching the tent. Also I would like to add that the other 2 Marmot tents were not using even half of the tie downs and the fly had to touch their tents. We also sent Marmot the pictures of all the water in the tent from that morning. We even requested they replace it with their less expensive Halo 6 that others with us had and experienced no leaks, but they would not do anything.

Tent Life!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When in doubt, go big ! :) Super glad I did. So much room. I mainly have a big tent because of my 2 medium sized, but they think they're huge, dogs :0)! Standing up and being able to function is so key with a tent , that is not for use when backpacking. (separate tent for those adventures). Marmot is such a solid company too, Great tent. Sturdy. Easy up and down. Roomy :))

Love this tent!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

we were looking for a tent that was tall enough to stand up in and found that and more with the Limestone 6! There is a ton of room inside with enough space for a full size air mattress and a couple of camping chairs. It does get a little warm with the rainfly on but you're definitely protected from heavy downpours. Overall, we are extremely happy with our purchase and look forward to every time we can use it!

Responded on

According to this hilarious overview video I found, the door mat does come with this tent. I would recommend watching just to listen to the narration. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYn10dZfyOA)
