Stone-cold quality for 6.

The Marmot Limestone 6-Person 3-Season Tent isn't really something you want toss on your back and head out on the trail with, but for car camping or backyard excursions, it's the perfect shelter for the whole family (provided you're not trying to single-handedly repopulate a desolate planet). It sleeps six without trouble, and is tall enough (6ft 3in!) that an adult can stand up without bumping their head on the ceiling. Two horizontal poles provide tons of horizontal head room, too, and the Limestone sets up in minutes, as the four DAC aluminum poles, clips, and sleeves are color-coded to avoid confusion.

Once it's pitched, the whole crew will dig the space, which is boosted by two doors with giant vestibules so you don't have to bring gear, or Spot the Newfoundland, inside if it's wet. Nor will you have to worry about water getting in, since the Limestone's polyester fly, nylon floor, and polyester walls have fully taped seams and DWR coatings to repel moisture. The mesh walls and fly vents work together to keep air circulating even if the skies open up, and the reflective guy-out points keep you from tripping and bringing the whole shebang down in heap when you make a mad nighttime dash to the bathroom.

  • 68D polyester ripstop fly
  • 40D polyester No-See-Um mesh canopy
  • 75D polyester walls and 150D nylon floors
  • Fully taped seams
  • Four DAC DA17 aluminum poles with color-coded clips and sleeves
  • Two doors with vestibules
  • Reflective guy-out points and jingle-free zippers
  • Internal pockets

Great tent

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great tent from the construction to the zippers. I used it twice, no rain, and the only feedback I noticed is it appears to have slightly stretched or loosened on the setup of our second trip. Not a big deal, but noticed it when unzipping the door it takes two hands because that part of the wall sags slightly. Otherwise very happy with the tent.

Incredibly well designed and tough

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

This tent is amazing - sets up easily, has very durable poles and fabric. All aspects worked incredibly well in rain and hard winds. After a hard, hard wind -no bending poles and no sand in the inside while other tents were filled with sand. After sleeping in backpacking tents the majority of the time this tent felt like the Hilton, no even better the Marriot. It was spacious both laterally and vertically. Horizontal poles provided great room laterally and the height was very accommodating for a 6' person. Two doors and associated vestibules were a must for convenience for ease of exit and entrance for multiply people.

Great size and easy Weight

Fantastic tent! Great features!

Just used my Limestone 6p tent for the first time. Bought it from Backcountry two weeks ago and returned last night from a week long camping and hiking trip at Black Mountain Campground on the flanks of Mt. Mitchell, the East's highest peak. It rained off and on all week and we really got pounded at least 3 times, not a drop of water came into the tent. Under the very humid and unusually warm conditions we encountered (65 - 70 degrees at night, the week before it was in the low 50s) the Limestone 6p proved to have great ventilation and we experienced no condensation at all. We used it for 2 people plus 2 large dogs and it was palatial for us, two backpackers who are showing our age (mid-70s) and converting to car camping. Had to take the tent down wet between storms and in an ongoing light drizzle, but it came down fast and the tent itself barely got wet. Backcountry was out of the footprint but I was able to find one elsewhere and after such a wet week of tenting on a gravel pad I strongly recommend using the footprint for comfort, wear and tear and moisture control. The tent set up easily right out of the bag with no practice, exactly as the Marmot video shows. The included directions are clear and precise. I set it up and took it down by myself and had none of the reported problems with bent poles. The poles seemed sturdy but we had no wind speeds high enough to significantly stress them. The tent itself is well built and the zippers worked smoothly. It has many great details with lots of storage pockets, a strong ceiling hook, a floor mat for the vestibule (nice touch) and many ventilation options. I'm 6'2" and I could stand fully erect everywhere except directly up against the tent walls. The vestibules are good sized and easily absorbed our coolers and other items. I'd be remiss if I didn't thank the Backcountry staff for their very knowledgeable help in selecting this tent and for the quick two day delivery. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Limestone 6p and am looking forward to my next trip to the mountains with this terrific tent.

Great Tent!

We just purchased this tent and used it over the Fourth of July weekend. It rained for nine hours on July 4 and our tent stayed bone dry! We were camping with another group and their tent was wet inside. They had to hang out their sleeping bag to dry. We saw other tenters that had to do the same but gladly we did not. This tent goes up easy. It is a little tricky getting it back into the bag. You have to make sure you fold it up precisely and roll the fly and the tent together. Place those in the bag first then make a "whole" in the middle of those and then place the tent poles in. Happy Tenting!

    No footprint?!

This tent looks great and has really good reviews, unfortunately I can't use mine because they don't include the footprint and no longer carries them for this model.

So BUYER BEWARE, you'll have to shop elsewhere to complete this tent. I wish the item description had mentioned that part....

The floor of this tent is seam taped, 150d nylon, making it extremely durable and water resistant. You're good to go without the footprint, and if you're looking for a bit of extra protection, a simple nylon ground cloth will suit.

      Sturdy and Big

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

This is a great tent. It's big and sturdy. I loved the attention to detail Marmot put into this tent. It's by no means light, but if you're headed to your local campsite in your car and need the room, it's amazing.

      Limestone 6

      • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Couldn't ask for an easier tent to set-up. Lightweight and easy to transport. Blocked wind well.

Light weight poles bend a little too easy.

      Would buy again.

Do you have the marmot footprint for the limestone 6p? Is the limestone 6p the current model?

Yes, this is the current model of the Limestone 6P.

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This tent was one of the best purchases I made, has stood up to several years of use, weather, and two kids who are currently 4 and 2. If it has the room for babies, diapers, and everything else they may come with and still surviving our trips with some bad weather, then I don't know what to tell you. Not much time in cold or full on winter so will have to say no input in those regards, but I am confident it will be great.

      Tent Life!

When in doubt, go big ! :) Super glad I did. So much room. I mainly have a big tent because of my 2 medium sized, but they think they're huge, dogs :0)! Standing up and being able to function is so key with a tent , that is not for use when backpacking. (separate tent for those adventures). Marmot is such a solid company too, Great tent. Sturdy. Easy up and down. Roomy :))

      Love this tent!

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

we were looking for a tent that was tall enough to stand up in and found that and more with the Limestone 6! There is a ton of room inside with enough space for a full size air mattress and a couple of camping chairs. It does get a little warm with the rainfly on but you're definitely protected from heavy downpours. Overall, we are extremely happy with our purchase and look forward to every time we can use it!

Does this come with the floor mat for the vestibule?

According to this hilarious overview video I found, the door mat does come with this tent. I would recommend watching just to listen to the narration. (

It only comes with one mat for one of the vestibules.

It has one mat for a single vestibule, you will have to purchase another if you want one and also purchase a footprint. The cost is pretty good for the tent at this time, I bought mine several years ago for alot more.
