Great tent for Alaskan adventures

My husband was thrilled to open his new tent. He has set it up in our kitchen and is anxious to go camping around Alaska. He was happy with quality and size.

Like it!

We use it for family camping. Works well for three persons. Easy set up. Stable even w out stakes . A lil strange w out zip panel windows, but spacious so it doesn't feel closterphobic. Nice blend able green too. Love the rain flap entrance & repair pieces that come w! We use a tarp for foot print 8 by 10 works great. Good price

So this tent doesn't need a footprint ?

Most tents don't really require a footprint but it can make things cleaner and drier when the weather goes bad.

The Marmot Limestone is a good example of a tent that is ready for the weather with fully taped floor and fly seams. However, I like to own a footprint for my tents because it is another level of protection both for the occupants of the tent and extends the life of the tent itself.

The footprint on this tent is sold separately.

Awesome Tent!

The Marmot Limestone 4P Tent is a great tent, possibly one of the best on the market in my opinion. With great room on the inside, the Marmot Limestone 4P Tent really challenges the notion that a 4 person tent is really for 3 people. The Marmot Limestone 4P Tent's fly is made of 68d 100% Polyester Ripstop which is water resistant, and I can attest to the strength of the Marmot Limestone 4P Tent after being in windy and rainy conditions and being very confident it would get me through it. Berz Rating: 90/100 (Made in USA would get it a much higher rating)

Good Family Option

This has served our family of 3 and our friend's family of 4 well. It has basically been car camping, so cannot give major detail. But, easy to set up and functional.

Great Tent

This only took myself less than 5 min to set up and take down. Plenty of room. I stand 5 ft 8 in and my head just touched the roof. Roomy for 3 people however more than that it could be a little crowded. Haven t used it yet in the rain co cant commit on that however from what I have seen it seem to be a great tent. Very light weight and packs back in the bag easily.

Not good in wind

The first time I used this tent was a disaster. That night there were 30 mph winds. 2:30 in the morning the tent collapsed on me. One of the poles had bent in half and then stuck a big hole in the fly. Granted it was windy, but our group had 5 other tents or various types (none too fancy) and none of them collapsed or broke. The customer support from backcountry.com was superb. They were very apologetic and gave me a prompt refund and for that I am very grateful.

Actually big enough for 4

*UPDATE* Have now used this tent for 18 months on several trips in all conditions since my original review.

I LOVE this tent. It's one of my favorite pieces of outdoor gear. I love it so much I came back to update this review! It's been through several days and nights of steady rain and come out perfectly dry inside. Totally bombproof construction . Zippers are solid even after being manhandled repeatedly by kids. Plenty of room for me + 3 adults and we've even done 2 adults and 3 small kids. Condensation is minimal even with full occupancy and fly pulled down drum tight. The gear pockets on the sides are such a great idea.

OK - so this is one of those reviews that starts out 'I have only set this tent up in my yard but...' This tent REALLY can fit 4 people side by side (not alternating head to toe) comfortably. I know because this afternoon I made my whole family stop watching the tube and come out in the backyard and lay down inside it in their sleeping bags. At least my youngest thought this was fun. Anyway, there was PLENTY of room for the 4 of us without rubbing elbows. The vestibule (and the car) will hold most of our gear, so as long as its just sleeping bags and pads, this is perfect for a family of 4-5 depending on kid size. 4 adults could fit comfortably.

I debated quit a bit between this and the BA Big House, which gives 65 sq ft floor space compared to the Limestone's 60, but I'm pleased to say 60 is enough. Great job Marmot!

what is the difference between the limestone...

what is the difference between the limestone and halo?

Responded on

The limestone is lighter and only has one door, as opposed to 2 on the halo. The halo has less room inside, I believe, but more room if you include the vestibule size. Hope this helps!

Tent Packed Up

Tent Packed Up

This is 4p Tent when it's rolled up and in its bag. It is easily carried. The water bottle is for size reference. Please write any questions, concerns or comments you may have. Thank you.

Does this tent really sleep 4? or is it more accurate to say 3 people plus gear?

Great Tent

This tent is great, I took it out for 4 days over memorial weekend. The tent held up to the weather great and was easy to maintain. I had the gearloft and footprint with mine - they were nice and worked well. The tent is water proof so it was obviously easy to keep dry. The air flow is nice through the tent. Simply open but vestibules so air can get through their during the day while you're not using it and you'll find that it dries out quickly. The stakes were nice but the environment (rock) that I lied my tent was pretty unforgiving to them causing 1 to bend and become unusable. Overall I'd recommend this tent to anyone - It is very light for the size and if you're with a larger group you could carry it for backpacking as it packs very small if packed correctly. Thanks Marmot!

Thank you Marmot!~

No gearloft or footprint - this is tent only

CAUTION: the great price comes at a cost- whereas just about everyone else sells the complete tent package, BackCountry has chosen to "deconstruct" this one - it's the tent ONLY. The full package costs just pennies less than the full MSRP of $299!!!

Don't I feel like a chump now?
