Great tent

We have it in green - we also have a halo 4. This was a little cheaper and slightly less roomy than the halo 4. A bit more vertical height and a little less side height if that makes sense. We find this tent a bit warmer overnight than the halo - a few less vents and a bit hotter in summer - due to the colour and less vents. Great tent, rock solid construction, good value ( particularly when on sale). No rear vestibule or rear door - but not a problem. Have camped with two adults and 2 kids in this and not so heavy for short hiking in if other three are taking some load

When they say "gear loft" are they talking about the built in vestibule in the rain fly? Or is there something extra that I can't seem to find?

The gear loft is a hanging bag that comes with the tent that you can use to store your extra gear. Check out Marmot's Curly's Clips video posted earlier on this page. He shows you the gear loft towards the end of the video.

Just got the Limelight 4p tent and I have to say I am VERY impressed.
Things I like about it:
Connection points are quality.
Size - Not sure if most people leaving reviews are big guys, but I see plenty of room for 4, it also may differ on how much gear you're carrying, but with 3 people there is plenty of gear space.
Height - good overhead room both in height and overall space.
Rain fly fits oversized for storing gear outside of tent if you need to.
2 doors
the only thing I was a little bit worried about:
Overall weight - the tent with everything is over 9 lbs. You can ditch stuff to bring it down to 8.5 but over all it is pretty heavy.
I will have to report once it warms up and i can take it out. This is just a first impression from setting up in my living room. Overall I'm pumped about it.

Love this tent. Major wind, on side of wheeler peak, Nevada, flash flood rain on white rim trail, Utah. the tent kept us safe, warm and dry. This tent is roomy, I'm 6' 4" and it is easy to change in, fits 4 people with out trouble. very easy to set up, but look at directions first time. Highly recommend this tent.

Great tent for truck camping. Handled the wind well. Lots more room than I'm used to.
Great for 3+

Holds me and my two sons perfectly, with room to spare for their packs (but perhaps not mine.) I suspect if we had four people it would be tight but serviceable.
No condensation inside the tent. Dry as a bone during a rainstorm. Despite a downpour, my pack stayed perfectly dry inside the vestibule, as did our shoes.
Really pleased!

Is the packed size listed compressed? If not how small can this tent pack down, in a compression sack, without the poles, relative to an object?
Picture would be helpful.

That's definitely not compressed. Can't help you with how small it would get, but the "packed size" is a pretty loose bundle as far as I can tell.

I just got this tent and used it in the Never Summer Wilderness just West of Rocky Mountain National Park. I had some rain and a little hail and the tent performed great. The best part was that there was absolutely no condensation on the inside of the tent. The vestubles are nice and large, the headroom is great, and this tent is long enough for tall people. This tent works great for 2 people and can also fit 3 but everyone would be shoulder to shoulder. I highly recommend this tent.
Nice Tent

I really like the size of this tent. I know its a four man tent but for two campers and their gear its perfect. It is very easy to put up instructions not needed just apply common sense. Love the way the floor seams come up around the side to keep moisture out of the tent. The corner storage pockets were a great idea. Only con is the tent bag. Not a good compression type bag I will be replacing it with a nicer more durable type tent bag. That said I am still 100% satisfied and would recommend this tent to friends.
Very Spacious

I bought this tent for my family, upgrading from a 2 person tent with two people and two dogs to this tent. Great tent, very spacious, easy to set up, unfortunately after one use seams started to separate where poles were attached to tent, and we had two holes, one on the side corner, and another in the screen. Disappointed by the lack of durability. Returning this tent.

We have used the Limelight 4P for 2 years as our main tent for bike tours like the Ragbrai tour accross Iowa. This has been a great tent as we generally tear down in the morning and set up in a different town each night. This takes about 5 minutes or less because of the fantastic design of this tent. We rode out a thunderstorm with winds up to 70 mph that distroyed many of the tents in our camp. There were no leaks in the tent and even all the equipment under the fly was dry. We do use the 4p for my wife and I. 4 people would be cramped.
Efficient setup and tear down, great design with a gear loft and ground cloth make this a fantastic tent.
BTW...this year 2 people showed up at camp with 2P and a 3P Limelights because they liked ours so much.

I'm giving this 3 stars because I was told by the rep here it was a good combo pack and car camping tent. When I first got this tent I was shocked how big it is packed up. the first time I set it up I had some issues with the Hubbed poles, Its tricky trying to get them all pegged into the corners. After that it was a little easier. the cross poles that hold up the doors are a great idea but I still dont know if they are ment to run under or over the top of the other poles. then it was time to set up the Fly, I had a lot of issues trying to get this set up. once you match up the sides the real trick is pulling the fly to the other side. It kept getting caught up on the over hang poles and I was nervouse I would pull to hard and puncture the fly. the free gear loft is ok, It hangs very tight. the free ground cloth was another issue, have to check some of my other cloths because I was shocked to see that Marmont didnt seam tape it?? it would have been nice if they went the extra mile. Oh also there is a big seam about 3/4th of the way on the floor and on ground cloth. I could actually match them up. I would just feel a lot more secure if the floor was a true bath tube design.
Over all its a good summer car camping tent. Not a bad buy if your looking for something to get you threw a few trips over the summer. the extra space marmont brags about also comes with the coast of a big and heavy pack size. I think Im going to return it and look for a 3 man. the MSR Motha Hubba or a Big Anges might have been more of what I was looking for

Very easy assembly and smart design with the color coded clips for the poles. It goes up fast and compacts nicely. Roomy on the inside and good sized vestibules with the fly on. This tent is tough as nails, pretty lightweight and packs back up nicely.
