No need to bring the lasso.

Setting up a tent shouldn't feel like you're wrangling with an ornery and generously-sized longhorn bull, so keep it simple with the Marmot Limelight 3P Tent. Its color-coded clips and poles make for easy set ups, and the Marmot Zone construction offers more livable space so you can comfortably kick back after a day spent fishing, hiking, or mountain biking. Additionally, Marmot hooked the Limelight up with a mesh canopy for stargazing fiends, while the seam-taped fly repels those frequent summer rainstorms or unexpected dust storms. Not to mention, the added mesh fly vents ensure your little home-on-the-go stays cool during those hot and muggy nights when the bugs are out. And of course, the large D-shaped door makes it a whole lot easier to get in after a long night sipping cocktails by the campfire.

Fantastic Tent - no complaints at all

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent as a pleasure to use and easy to put up and take down. It's billed as a "3 person" but realistically it fits 2 sleeping bags perfectly. The gear can easily be stowed in the two vestibules. The high vertical sidewalls make the interior feel extra roomy and ceiling hook is great for mini LED lantern and ceiling hoops work well for a gear hammock or line for hanging wet socks, hat, gloves. It performed well and I highly recommend this tent.

Held up in some serious rain!

Having never used the tent before last weekend, I was curious how it would hold up in the rain. I took it to Big Sur for 2 days of solid, non-stop rain and it stayed dry! There were definitely times where I wouldn't have been surprised if it sprung a leak due the continual rain but it didn't. Super easy set up, quite roomy. 2 people and chocolate lab. Well done Marmot!

      great 3p tent

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are looking for a 3 person tent for backpacking or car camping, no need to look any further.
Im a tall guy at 6'4 and the steep walls on this tent are great for taller people. seems to give a bit more elbow room and wiggle room.
This was the perfect size for two large adults, and the weight is manageable when split up between two.
I have it up in the wind and in the rain and I have stayed dry and out of the wind in each instance.
Set up is a breeze for one or two, and plenty of vestibule space.
this is my 3rd marmot tent and none have let me down.

      PERFECT

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been looking for the perfect tent and I found it. This tent is amazing! Finally we have enough space for two people and our dog along with all our gear. This spacious tent is very comfortable. I highly recommend it.

Great fit for 3 but BREEZY as can be!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The basics: We LOVED the high sides and the 3 of us fit nicely. However, we were camped at highish altitude...about 7000ft... and the temps dropped to upper 30's. Not unusual for July but we assumed a 3 season tent would be sufficient. What we did not realize was the fly does not completely reach the ground. We set it up initially in our living room and didn't notice because we obviously weren't staking any guy lines down in the house. We were able to lower it to about 3-4 inches away but when the temps dropped and the winds picked up the cold breeze whipped right under the fly, into the tent and back out again. At one point we unzipped the door to reach into the vestibule and it was so windy that everything in our tent was covered in loose dirt in a matter of seconds. We actually considered returning it. We'd like to try it one more time because the weight and fit are perfect...but certainly wouldn't look forward to another chilly night and our most of our backcountry camping is in high altitude. So we're unsure. I wish the description had mentioned that the fly did not reach the ground and that is is VERY well ventilated. the tent itself is very nice but better suited for someone who camps in the low country or in a warmer climate.

      Five star Tent-tel.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So my husband and I were so excited about this tent that we decided to set it up in the our backyard and take it for a test snooze last night. And it was awesome! Major upgrade from our old, decrepit ALPS mountaineering tent (which we love dearly, just needed a new one). Based on the packed size of the tent, it seems great for car camping and should we take it backpacking, we'll be splitting up the tent between two packs so it should be easy to haul it around.

Some of my favorite highlights are:

      1. The mesh canopy. Legit this is for stargazing fiends. It opened up my world and was incredibly enjoyable to fall asleep looking at the stars.
      2. The bathtub floor. Mega plus - fully taped, waterproof, and combined with the additional layer of reinforced polyester seals in warmth and gives the tent some structural umph. Also, this design kept us pretty cozy last night when the temperatures dropped, unlike our old ALPS.
      3. Set up. So freaking easy! I could not get over how straight forward the set up was. Not to mention, set up was fast. Though, be prepared for substantially sized poles, long ones at that.
      4. The size. HELLO HOMEY. We have two dogs (one mini heeler and one medium sized husky thing) so we needed something with a little extra room for the two dogs. And it's perfect! The interior height is perfect enough to accommodate my husband and I hunched over playing cards, and the sleeping space is unrivaled. As a test, we inflated our queen size air mattress and it fit, perfectly. We were pretty stoked to say the least.

All in all, this tent is dreamy. I would highly recommend it to any and all who aren't worried about weight and looking for extra sprawl space.

How does this tent manage in high winds?

      Hey Mary,

The Limelight does great in high winds. With the fly having full coverage all the way to the ground it give all the protect you will need. As long as you have the tent staked down well and the guy lines staked out for additional support the limelight will do great. Email headed your way Mary. Hit me up directly with other questions.
