If it isn't easy, you're doing it wrong.

Setting up a tent shouldn't feel like a title bout with the heavyweight champion of the world, so keep it simple with the Marmot Limelight 3P Tent. Its color-coded clips and poles makes for easy set ups, and the Marmot Zone construction offers more livable space so you can comfortably kick back after a day spent fishing, hiking, or mountain biking. Marmot hooked the Limelight up with a mesh canopy for stargazing, a seam-taped fly to repel those frequent summer rainstorms, added mesh fly vents to keep things cool during those hot and muggy nights when the bugs are out. The large D-shaped door makes it a whole lot easier to get in after a long night sipping cocktails by the campfire.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had my share of so called 3-person tents. Unlike the rest, the limelight is square which means the walls don't slant and chop out half the interior space. We arrived late at night and set this tent up with ease. It also held up easily against a slew of rainstorms.

There are few things worse than camping in a cheap tent. Don't do it. Take the path less traveled, buy the limelight, sleep comfy, and wake up to that gorgeous mountain sunrise.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only gone out once with this tent since I got it, but as a first impression, it is really easy to set up, pretty spacious inside, and absolutely love the double doors, specially the big one! It's easy to fit all your gear, including inflated mattresses. The vertical walls are very well thought, you gain lots of space because of them, and when sleeping, you are not constantly touching them and freezing to death because of it. The vestibules are big enough to fit backpacks and other gear.

Personally, I bought the 3p model but actually only go camping with my wife. I feel this was a good call for us, we gained space and if we ever need to fit someone else, well, we can do it. It's important to mention that we go car camping, so the additional weight is not an issue, comfort is.

The tent as it self feels very high quality.

So far the only downside is that it comes with only 6 stakes so if your going camping on windy or rainy season, make sure to take at least 6 additional stakes with you just in case. It does come with enough cords.

    Super Stoked

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I finally decided it was time to get a worthwhile tent, and after getting several recommendations for this one, I went for it. Couldn't be happier. I bought the 3 person for car camping, and the occasional walk up a hill. It is easy to set up, and nice and roomy. 3 people would be a cozy fit, but for 2 you have plenty of room for gear. The double door/vestibule is great, no need to clamber over one another.

works well, footprint is too loose

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've only used it on one trip so far. I was alone so it was definitely spacious, but I got it with the hope of being spacious as a 2 person tent, which it is. It is more difficult to set up alone than a normal tent - I suggest connecting the "hook" at the center of the poles first so that the pole ends you already put in the grommets don't come out as you're going around the tent. Two main issues I have with the tent: first, the poles (well, 1 segment really) are not straight which means they are bulkier when folded up. It's a bit annoying that it doesn't get more compact, but what can you do? It probably doesn't make a huge difference in the end. The bigger issue I had is that the footprint seemed too big. Not the fabric area itself but the straps at the corners that have the grommets. They only fit the tent poles loosely so it was a struggle keeping the footprint in place while setting up the rest of the tent by myself. Not sure if others have had this experience. Otherwise it is a solid tent. It rained all of the last night and the inside stayed dry.

    Awesome tent!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I absolutely love this tent. I use it for motocamping. I was able to pack it smaller than specified in the specs. Currently 20x7 with all components rolled together.
The design of the tent with the bottom portion being vertical for the first 18" is genius. Space is perfect for 2 people and all of your gear.

    Awesome tent!

    Excellent tent for TWO people!!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Tent is super easy to set up! I had my inexperienced teenager set it up and it took him just under 5 minutes! You could fit a 3rd person in there but two sleep very comfortably with plenty or room for gear. Only used a couple of times but seems to be a quality tent!! Haven't used it in extreme conditions but will update review when I do. Great tent for the money!!!

Built for a lumberjack sized boyfriend..

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

...and his tinier girlfriend. After weekends squeezed into a two person with my guy and our packs, I upgraded to the Marmot. We've backpacked with it (each of us carrying part of it) in all four seasons. It's been to Joshua Tree, The Gunks, Old Loggers Path and The Black Forest Trail. It's been roomy for both of us and our sizable packs and kept us dry in all day torrential thunderstorms. For our backpacking and camping it was a great investment! Easy and quick to put up and stake down and the stash pockets have kept all our smaller backpacking items in one place and organized. Totally recommend this tent!

This tent actually has two doors.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Note that the Tech Specs incorrectly state that the tent only has 1 door. This new version is a huge upgrade from the previous Limelights. It has 45% more interior room than the previous version!

    So Nice!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Recently took this tent out for the first time and gotta say that I love how spacious it is! It's a bit taller and wider than our TNF tent that we came from. It is very intuitive to assemble which is awesome for inclement weather that comes out of nowhere as you're setting up camp. Great tent for 2 people and all your gear! Love the double vestibule option. We usually just put up 1 but it's nice to have the double when you need to hunker down. Definitely would recommend this tent to any couple or small family looking to tackle the great outdoors!

Can you divide the weight of this tent between two people for backpacking?

    Unanswered Question

Could you summarize the main differences between the 3-person marmots, specifically the Tungsten, Catalyst, and Limelight? Long-time outdoors-man, first-time new tent purchaser :)

    Hi there,
Could you please explain the "floor dimensions"? How can a square/rectangle have 3 different measures? Not quite sure I get what the "48 x 68 x 90 in" is representing. Sounds like floor dimension should be 68x90 (=6120 sq in = 42.5 sq ft). What is 48 representing?
