Whether you're heading out for a brisk morning run or gunning for some spring corn, the Marmot Men's Lightweight Bottom wicks moisture and cools you down when you work up a sweat. Wear these anti-microbial pants under ski pants during a tour or underneath your shorts on a chilly run. The Lightweight Bottom's stretchy, form-fitting Polartec Powerdry fabric hugs you closely for a close, but non-restrictive fit. This means you'll have all the warmth of an extra layer without the bulky, claustrophobic feeling. Flat-lock seams keep things from getting chaffy when layering and the gusseted crotch provides a little extra room for movement.
Bottom Line: Comfy, non-bulky, and puts a stop on the funky... brass monkey...
I'm 5'9" 170# athletically built, I purchased the mediums. At first I was put off by the fact that they are not stretchy at all but after a few wears I have come to find that their construction makes up for it. They are built with extra room around the "junk" and "trunk" areas where most of my base layers hug uncomfortably tightly. Like others have mentioned, I thought it was strange that they hugged my calves tight but the waist band was almost loose. But again, after wearing them a bit, you start to appreciate the waistband not digging into your flesh and making your belly look all chubby (can you say under armour?) I like using these for snowshoeing because they are light and comfortable, the fabric they are made out of traps warm air against the skin and still continues to breathe during aerobic activity (again unlike UA, which i have begun to despise during my winter running because it stops breathing once its soaked in sweat, then rapidly chills you if you stand still)
Fabric was super itchy and uncomfortable. I'm sure the quality is fine and the fit was good, but I would not recommend these based on the comfort factor.
In general- good stuff. Enough soft and comfortable, but a proper size is a bit tight in thigh. The same size of Helly Hansen bottoms fits much better. I guess it depend of individuals and it will fit good to persons with medium thigh circumference.

I give it a five, mang. Really, I think these are excellent - they fit me very well, they were extremely comfortable, and they make me feel uber sexy. The last part might not be the case for you. Still, they are very, very warm and the material is soft and comfy. I like most of the Marmot brand stuff I've purchased, but this was the first thing I bought and it really turned me onto other stuff by the company.
I have always liked Marmot clothing, but wasn't impressed with these. They are exactly what I expected in terms of being light-weight. However, for the price and brand I expected them to be more comfortable. As other reviewers have noted, they were not at all soft for a base layer. Fit obviously varies from person to person, but these also didn't fit great. I am usually a solid Med for something like these (5'11", 175 lbs, 32x32). The length was good but they were kinda tight in the thighs, which made them feel a little restrictive, then oddly, the elastic waistband was loose. Just not right for me. I prefer the smartwool version (which is more expensive but worth it IMO) and recently bought the Terramar version which I feel is a step up from the Marmot.
