A stuff sack and rucksack for your many mountain needs.

The versatile and incredibly compressible Marmot Kompressor Backpack acts as a stuff sack for your sleeping bag during your trek but works as a rucksack when you want to take an ultralight trip to a nearby summit. Three effective compression straps shrink down your lofty load to its smallest possible size for packing away in a larger pack, and the removable closed-cell foam back sheet and an integrated hydration sleeve give you the ability to use the Kompressor as a small day pack.
  • The entire pack folds into the zippered top lid pocket
  • Airmesh shoulder straps breathe as you move quickly through the alpine
  • A side loop secures your ice tool if you decide to bag the summit with minimal gear
  • Reflective clipping points provide increased visibility for biking or loading up the pack before dawn
  • A light attachment clip holds a light for biking or pre-dawn glacier travel

Awesome pack... with stitching issues

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome little pack that packs up super small when not in use, but can fit an impressive amount of stuff when you need it. super awesome for travel because of this

Also great as a little day pack around the home area, I can easily get my gibbon 25m slack line, a water bottle, and hammock into it for a day of chilling.

After using this pack for another month of so some of the stitching came out, so I returned it for a replacement from BC, after a couple months with that one the same issue occured. I knocked a few points off of my review because of this, hopefully the stitching is better on the new 2012 model. See the image attached to this for a detail of where the stitching came out. Yes you could easily fix this with a needle and thread, but i prefer not to have to fix gear that is less then 3 months old.

Great Pack!

Recently bought this pack and the http://www.backcountry.com/sea-to-summit-ultra-sil-dry-daypack-20l for a trip to Europe. I bought them to use for shopping, etc. I ended up wearing this pack everyday for 2 weeks and love it. It is very light weight and you would not want to carry it with heavy items for long, but it is the go to bag for daily activities.

This pack is awesome. I use it as a rucksack, compression bag for sleeping bag, and also for a daypack to beach or pool. One of the best all around packs I have ever owned.Great for anything but heavy loads. One thing I did to take it from a 5 star to a 6 star is I cut out a thicker piece of foam from an old sleeping pad and replcaced the stock back pad. now I can put more weight in it and soooo comfortable. A must have pack!

Great for the crag!

Perfect size, perfect beg for climbing. Everything you need, place for hydration without taking up space, room for a sexy helmet. Stays in place while hiking a Class4 to the crag. Wish there was a small internal pocket.

I like this bag.

This is a pretty cool bag.
It's light weight but tough. I use it for my climbing gear. I can carry my harness, chalk bag, two pairs of climbing shoes and still have a bit of room. I would really like if it had a daisy chain but that's just personal preference.
It's pretty comfortable, but since it's light weight material you can feel what's in your pack even with the pad in it.
I bought it during the Memorial Day sale so I got it cheap so it was more than worth it to me, even at its normal price I'd still have no regrets about having bought it.

good stuff

this pack is great for stuffing your sleeping bag in then using for for side hikes on long trips. only down side is that there are only 3 straps to compress your bag with, one more in the back to get even compression would make it 5 stars.

Is it waterproof?

No, it is not. The fabric is very lightweight though. The bag is so small that you could easily make a rain cover for it with something as commonplace as a trashbag.

Hope this helps!

Is this pack big enough for avy gear?...

Is this pack big enough for avy gear? Mainly concerned about shovel and probe packing up...thanks!

Responded on

Size wise it should, as there are smaller CU IN packs that are designed to hold avy gear. However...

If you are intending to ski with this, I do not think this pack would work well for that use. It may fit a small shovel and probe, but this is a light weight packable pack meant to be used more as a rucksack and stuff bag. Not a lot of padding between your back and the avy gear.

If you are looking for a small ski pack to hold avy gear may I suggest checking out:

Power pack

This pack is well made and light. It packs into itself in the pocket in the top of the bag. Not sure how useful it would ultimately be as a stuff sack. Has reinforced areas for carrying heavy items, and it has padding that can be taken out. Definately a better choice than a light silk day bag. Have a look at the other Kompressor backpack models as the Plus and Ultra models are larger and offer useful little extras such as mesh pouches for water bottles and other items, which this model doesnt offer.

How do you pack the bag into the lid? I can't seem to get mine into the lid

Best Answer Responded on

Just open the zipper and turn the lid over on itself like a sock. Then get the bag inside, and close the zip. Hope it helps.

I would estimate that it packs down to about a litre and a half or so? Not too big anyway.

This pack is awesome. Perfect for little day trips and travel. its very light as well. the zipper up top is nice for easy access to the small little items like snacks, keys, camera, etc. I also like that it has a pouch for a water reservoir.

+1 for Marmot

wow, what is there to say about this pack other than its simply perfectly done. To talk about its multi-purpose alone makes it worth buying as you can take it anywhere as a lightweight day sack. Even has a sleeve for a 2 liter camelbak if you choose. Take it on day hikes, trail runs, traveling...then take out the back panel foam and use it while backpacking as a compression sack for your sleeping bag or clothes, then whip it out after setting up camp to explore with the essentials. Hell take it to the beach as there's enough room for a towel, drinks, sunscreen, and book. This packs design and features has been thought out well by marmot and is great for 90% of excursions.
