On cool fall hikes or chilly dawn patrol missions, the Marmot Women's Kitzbuhel Insulated Vest keeps your core continually cozy so you don't have to miss a minute of action. Whether you're strolling along Main Street, window-shopping, leaf-peeping on a tepid October day, or working off an extra slice of cake by skate-skiing up the road, this vest stands sentry against the cold without causing you to overheat.
The ripstop polyester shell can handle a few sticks and stones without getting roughed up, while stretchy fleece side panels go with the flow, rarely putting up resistance. Mid-loft Thermal R synthetic insulation offers warmth without a lot of weight, and a quilted pattern keeps the insulation in place, even after years of wear. Armhole skirts is not a new fashion phrase, and you'll never have to worry about the maxi trend making its way to your pits. Armhole skirts are extra fabric that reduce the gaping between the vest and your body, without feeling tight or squished.
An elastic drawcord at the hem keeps out pesky breezes, and zippered hand-warmer pockets hold your keys and mid-hike candy bar(s). In town, this vest takes cool-weather couture up a notch when paired with skinny jeans, fur-lined boots, and a cashmere turtleneck. For aerobic endeavors in cool weather, put the Kitzbuhel over a mid-weight baselayer and performance tights, and run through fallen leaves and misty mornings in comfort. Or, if you get your kicks on sticks, this vest fits nicely under a waterproof hardshell when you're blasting through mounds of fresh snow on every run.

New Thinsulate < Old Primaloft models
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This vest used to be insulated with “Primaloft” brand but now uses “3m thinsulate” instead. While I’m sure there is no tangible difference in heat retention the comfort level went down. Primaloft version had a nice puffy collar that blocked more wind and more padding on the bottom draw string. The new version seems to dig into abdomen a bit too much for my liking. Verdict: Go back to thicker insulation where the comfort matters.

Best quilted vest ever!
I love this vest which I have in two colors. It’s long enough and a bit curvy for a very nice fit. Keep making it forever and more colors like red, green and blue!
