    Puffy privilege.

Ever wondered what it's like to be cuddled in cozy warmth while your friends are freezing? Have you jealously glanced at outdoorsy folks clad in beautiful baffles at the grocery store? Well, the Marmot Women's Jena Hooded Down Jacket is just the ticket to the puffy prestige you've been missing your entire life. Between its 700-fill down insulation, water-resistant Down Defender treatment, and durable polyester mini ripstop shell, this pristine puffy is sure to rise you to the top of the food chain, as far as outdoors adventures and action-ready looks go.

Keeping you warm through variable conditions ranging from chilly to downright damp, the jacket's 700-fill down is treated with Marmot's Down Defender for added resistance to wetness. Basically, the jacket's down is coated in a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) at the molecular level, acting as an insurance policy against wet weather to ensure your jacket retains its heat-trapping loft. Combined with the shell's exterior DWR treatment, the Jena Hooded Down Jacket keeps you warm under all but a heavy rainstorm or all-day deluge.

Other features of interest include zippered hand pockets for stashing snacks and small accessories, and an elastic drawcord hem that cinches tight for a great fit. In addition, this jacket has Marmot's Angel-Wing Movement for freedom of motion when you're pitching a tent, scrambling up a mountain, or retrieving items from your jam-packed wagon.

    Just right!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large

The sizing was on point and I love it. I wear it under my shell ski jacket and it keeps me perfectly warm and toasty. The only negative for me is the neck area when fully zipped is a bit tight. I like to shield my chin and mouth on really cold days on the chair lift and i can't do without pulling my hands out of my mittens. Love the fit other than that. Great jacket!

    Strange fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this a couple months a go at a sale, and have already used it on a few camping trips in Southwest Co and Utah. I have been keeping it next to my sleeping bag to add on in the early hours when the temp still drops super low despite being Spring. I have not been at all disappointed with the warmth. I've even worn it in wet weather (wet snowy conditions while skiing ) and the water resistance held up great. My only complaint is the fit. I knew when I got it that the hips were tight and I decided to suck it up. Since then I've started to notice that the arms and chest are very loose and the filling under the arm pits has slowly pushed its way out so there is now no insulation in the armpits making them feel even bigger. To put this into perspective I have an hour glass figure with bigger hips so it's usually a 50/50 chance that a longer coat will be tight on my hips, but the fact that the bust and arms are loose is surprising since I have a 36DD bust and broad shoulders. I don't really have the money for another puffy right now so I'm going to continue using it, but I wish I had gone with something different to begin with.

    Best coat I've ever had

I thought about getting the Quasar for more warmth, but I've had a Jena before and I've never been cold in it. Fits great with thick layers underneath for long cold days outdoors. The down hood is great for keeping wind and cold off your neck and ears. It's pretty thin and seems like it wouldn't be enough for Wisconsin winters, but it definitely gets the job done. The fleece lined pockets are great as well.

    Great Jacket

The Hooded Jena is a fantastic hooded down. This jacket has down defender, which stays drier 10 times longer than untreated down, maintains 150% more loft in damp conditions and dries 30% faster. This is a huge upgrade to your regular down jacket. The fit on this jacket is really great as well, a down that actually flatters your figure.

      Unanswered Question

Just looking for a warm hooded jacket for everyday cold winter weather. This looks warm but I was wondering if it is bulky, where it would be difficult to move around in, doing everyday activities

what is the length of the jacket? Is this jacket longer then the Patagonia Women's Full-Zip Hoody Down Sweater?
