The posted specs are accurate, so I will not repeat them.
If you wear an XL in Marmot (usually true to size), you may want to get an XXL here because this parka is thick (800 down).
Very light, extremely warm, and the down insulated hood is great.
If you like to layer do not buy this parka. If you want to climb a mountain in this parka, ski, or snowboard, don't. Only purchase if you like to stay warm!

I'm being told the fill weight is 390 grams. The Fitz Roy Hoody weighs in at 181 grams of down (also 800 fill). Doesn't that make the Iceland significantly warmer?

This coat is for staying warm in everyday winter life. A bit heavy for mountaineering or skiing, but lighter than most other around town coats, and it is stuff-able if you had to stow it somewhere. Great for traveling. Hood does not come off, but this has not bothered me because if it's cold enough for this coat then you want the hood. Unfortunately it does not have an internal waist drawcord, just one at the bottom, (which comes down long enough to cover your butt). A bit expensive at full price, but a great deal if you get it on sale. You won't be cold!
I'm torn between this coat and the Mountain Hardwear Sub
I'm torn between this coat and the Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket. I'm looking for a good durable down jacket for being outside for an extended period of time in very cold whether (ie camping and expeditions in heavy winter whether). Is this jacket really the better buy for the price? I know its got a stronger shell (waterproof) and a higher fill rate but is also heavier and more bulky.

Well, I live in interior Alaska and I returned the Sub Zero hooded down jacket, it was EXTREMELY short at the waist, and really wide, so even though it was warm the length really let the cold in. They have the parka version of it, but all it really is, is the length of a normal jacket would be, which is pretty retarded. THIS jacket is 800 fill down and the outer material is really strong and the length is that of a real parka. So i would definitely look at this, or the Greenland Baffled down jacket from Marmot. THAT jacket is much lighter than this one and a lot lighter. Also, you might want to check out the Patagonia Fitz Roy Down Hoody.

Can't comment on the other brands, but it sounds like the Iceland is just what you're looking for. It's a longer cut, baffled 800 fill down jacket with a waterproof shell, so it should be able to handle anything a Minnesota winter can throw at you. Hope this helps.

This jacket seems to be tailored to a different crowd than what the jacket claims to be designed for. If you have a thin, muscular build, this jacket will NOT work for you.
In order for the sleeves to be long enough you will have to order so many sizes larger that the jacket is WAY TOO WIDE THROUGH THE BODY.
The quality of the jacket seems to be average for a jacket of this price range, but I found when I went to try on Marmot jackets that all of their jackets are cut for people who are WIDE THROUGH THE TORSO WITH SHORT ARMS.
I tried on The North Face jackets and Marmot jackets after ordering this jacket and found that the North Face Jackets are cut for people who have thin, muscular torsos and normal to long arms.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING MARMOT BECAUSE THEIR SIZING IS TAILORED TO THE MASSES, NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY USE OUTDOOR GEAR.

So this jacket is not cut for your build; So what?
You even state that you found a proper-cut jacket and yet you still wrote an emotionally charged as well as a very negative review.
Try finding a jacket that fits a 20" neck, 50" chest, and a 36" waist.
Or a helmet for a 66cm head.
Or mountaineering boots for size 12 6E feet.
Or a climbing harness for 31" quads.
