Coming soon: a bag filled with actual hydrogen.

Quick, what's lighter than air, smaller than your pet hamster, and warm enough for summer, spring, and fall camping? If you said the Marmot Hydrogen 30-Degree Down Sleeping Bag, you win! We're out of prizes, but you seem like the type for whom being correct is reward enough. If you feel like getting a prize for yourself, though, the Hydrogen's one hell of a bag—weighing an ultralight 1.75 pounds, it combines Pertex Microlight fabric and 850-fill goose down to make a bag that's rugged and warm, with thoughtful features like stretchy baffles around the feet and head for extra comfort.

Down's amazing because it's light, packable, and incredibly warm, but it doesn't work particularly well if it gets wet. To keep the Hydrogen functioning at a high level, Marmot decked it out with a DWR coating, and treated the insulation with Down Defender, which helps down retain its loft even it gets slightly soggy. Dry or damp, you'll be able to cinch down the six-baffle Nautilus hood for warmth and seal the face muff around your head while the insulated draft tube keeps cold air where it belongs—outside.

light weight and warm!

This is a great bag! Took it recently to Kings peak in Utah where the temp dipped into the 20's. Very comfortable, warm and light weight. Its a must have for 3 season backpacking!

Great sleeping bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best sleeping bags I have ever owned. Unless you aim at truly technical climbs (then you may need something more extreme), I would say that this is a good compromise between comfort and performance. It is lightweight, and the material is extremely durable and comfortable. My skin generally doesn't tolerate well synthetic materials, but I would spend the day enveloped in this bag if I could.

Great Bag: Light, Small, and Comfy!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I shopped around for months to find a 3 season bag that would fit my requirements (20-35 F; light; packs down small; down only). I found a lot of great options, but nothing that met my price range. I found this on sale, and jumped on it. I have only used it for winter hut trips thus far and it worked phenomenally. Packed extremely small and kept me not too hot when the stove was cranked and toasty warm after the fire had died. I'm looking forward to backpacking this summer with it as I no long have the "my sleeping bag is too heavy and bulky" excuse. I can't think of anything I don't like about it!

I love this thing!

The Marmot Hydrogen is a fantastic sleeping bag. It is very comfortable and warm enough for where I live (middle Georgia). This thing is light and packs down super small!

Small, light, & TIGHT!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've never felt like a sleeping bag needed more girth, but when zipped up I find myself wanting to split out of this thing! (6'1", 175#) so it's not like I'm a big dude. I do tend to curl up in a ball to sleep and sprawl my legs, but I believe others have noted this too.

Great warmth so long as you respect the rating. This is perfect for backpacking much of the year.

Pair it with a good thermal pad like the NeoAir to get a couple extra deg out of it.

packs soooo small

A very versatile bag, its great down to about 30*, so dress accordingly - but this is my favorite summer bag. Warm enough for when it dips to freezing but great for when its warm. Its a semi-fragile bag, more so when its being packed with other gear than what you're laying on...but that, I feel, is more because the stuff sack is pretty thin and fragile, and since I motorcycle camp often, things end up rubbing.

packs soooo small

Very happy with my bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I made a splurge for a summer hike in the mountains and so happy that I did. Before this, I used generic synthetic bags for my hikes and man, what a difference!
It is soft, fluffy, and warm. .

packs so small!

I love this bag, it is my go to sleeping bag. it packs so small and is supper light. plenty warm for sleeping down to about 35 degrees however I have used it down to about 25 degrees in a surprise snowstorm. The down defender works great in the wet and helps the down dry faster. the only draw back Is that the zipper tends to snag the inside liner but every thing else is great. I would buy this again!
