Helium Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down - Women's

The Marmot Women's Helium is an ultralight 15-degree down sleeping bag for women who want it all but don't want the weight. The 850-fill down Women's Helium weighs just 1lb 13oz and packs down super small. But it'll keep you warm down to 15F (-9C). This bag is shaped for women; it has a shorter length and thinner shoulder width than the men's version. In addition, the Helium has increased insulation in critical heat loss areas, so you stay warmer. A down-filled draft tube provides additional heat retention. If you're a minimalist 3-season backcountry traveler, shave off the extra weight and space of bulky unisex bags, and go with the Women's Helium.

Bottom Line: The Helium's so light it'll float away if you let go.

I just bought this sleeping bag. I love it, but I have a tough time stuffing into the XS stuff sack they send with. Any suggestions on stuffing a down bag? Should they really have sent a S stuff sack?

One trick I've learned is to turn the bag inside-out before stuffing it in. The outer shell of the bag is treated with DWR for wind and water resistance, so it's harder for air trapped inside the bag to escape. When you flip it inside-out, it's easier for excess air to escape through the inner layer of the sleeping bag. Hope this is helpful!

I agree with you about the XS size. Western Mountaineering does the same thing. I suggest using a S size compression stuff sack. You will then be able to control how much you want to compress your 850 fill sleeping bag. I feel the less compression on the higher loft down the better the bag will work. In fact I stuff mine in my day pack along with a few other down items which all fit neatly in the bottom compartment of my pack. Just a thought.

Unzip it part way and start by stuffing the bottom of the bag in first. Just keep packin' and stuff the hood last. If you stuff the hood first it traps air in there and makes it a little more difficult. Hope that helps.

Sure, these will fit you best. Good way to go! Plus these do really have extra down fill through the footbox, as compared to the men's version- warm feet is NEVER a bad thing :)

I had a TNF Blue Kazoo for about a decade. It was a great bargain, but I found the 20 degree temp rating to be way too optimistic for me (I sleep cold). So, with my great desire to have light things that work well, I bit the bullet and bought this expensive bag. I have found the temp rating to be more accurate than the kazoo, BUT, I wouldn't use this bag under 30 degrees without some hefty additional underlayers and hot water bottles. The bag itself is comfy (the regular is great for my 5'4" frame), the zipper sticks a fair bit, but is manageable. The hood works pretty well, and I LOVE the full-length zipper, I intentionally avoided this bag when it had the 3/4 length zipper (up through last year) because I like to stick out a foot when I get hot. It's a great bag, at very little weight; I haven't been disappointed.

I agree with Mike entirely. The regular Helium (item# MAR 1119) will not only come in a length that fits your height, it's going to be more spacious in the circumference measurements at 64/60/42 compared to this one at 58/58/38, and it weighs only an additional 2oz. A regular size in that model will fit a person up to 6 feet tall, and it costs the same.

Cozy and just my length

I bought this bag for backpacking in the Andes. It compresses to a portable package and is super soft inside. It's my first women's specific bag, and i'm stoked on that. No more wasted air at the bottom of the bag for us shorties. It's been soft and cozy from the start!

Appreciate your comment --- how tall are you out of curiosity? Looking for a bag for my girlfriend and she is 5' 6", but as there is not currently a long version of this bag I'm hoping she might fit in a regular.
