Why We Like The Marmot Guides Down Hooded Jacket
The Marmot Guides Down Hooded Jacket warms up cold campsites, crags, and the ski resort's parking lot when we're getting in and out of our boots. Its 700-fill down insulation ensures warmth without weight, and the Down Defender treatment helps the insulation retain its loft so we stay warm if it gets wet. Polyester ripstop wraps up this wonderful warmth with durability that won't let feathers poke out. Both the interior and exterior have a water-resistant coating to keep you doubly protected against wet weather.

Warm but...

Very warm jacket I bought for cold belays or hanging around the campfire. I was looking for more warmth while not moving and this jacket suits that perfectly. What you gain in warmth you lose in mobility with this jacket, tech wise it is very basic. The fit is somewhat boxy making it not very suitable for wearing while climbing. For alpine climbing days in the mountains, I will still be wearing My Rab Alpine Microlight Down or Arcteryx Cerium SV and leaving this jacket in the car to come back to and snuggle at the end of the day.

Just what I was looking for! And is was on-sale.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice jacket. I can't be happier. Perfect amount of warmth to weight for my backpacking gear. It has all the features I was looking for. I'll be wearing this later this year as I complete the Northern sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Not worth the money
I wasn’t prepared for a jacket with mesh sleeves and no filler, as well as 4 or 5 bands of down in the back. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be that warm, just looking at it.

Geez
What's gone wrong with Marmot, and who writes the specs. Seem to be multiple versions of this jacket all called the same thing. This must be the eco version. Advertised velcro cuffs, but not on this jacket.
