Though the Women's Furlong Jacket has all the technical features of Marmot's mountain-based softshells, its happiest kicking around town. With its stretchy, windproof and water-resistant softshell fabric and faux-fur lined hood the Furlong combines mountain-ready quality with city style. The princess seams and athletic fit of this water-resistant jacket give you the look you want without sacrificing performance. The Furlong is ready for a night out, and if a snowstorm rolls into town you'll be all set.

Bottom Line: From snowstorm to store run, the Furlong is ready.

Functional and stylish

I am petite. 5'2" around 113 pounds. I bought the extra small. I wanted the jacket to fit snug and it does. The length hits me at the top of my hip (whic I love). If you are a tall person or your body shape is such that you are long through the torso area, this jacket is not going to be long enough for you. I have the jacket in black and will definitely buy a second one in white as soon as it goes on sale! I don't consider $150 too much for that jacket. It's just that I can't justify buying 2 at full price. If you are 5'3" or under, it is a must buy.

Great Jacket

By:
January 25, 2010

I have a really nice expensive
red jacket with real fur around the collar.
My daughter loves my jacket. The marmot was a great find. The red jacket with fur look
in the hood looks luxurious. It looks really
nice on. It does tend to run on the small
side so I ordered a size up and had the sleeves taken up a little. Although you could roll the sleeve up. Backcountry was great to work with.

where is the "inside zip pocket" ? I can't seem to find it. The only pockets I find are the obvious side zippered hand warmer pockets.

awesome!

this is simply the cutest jacket, ever! i highly recommend it. sizing wise, i'm 5'4, 120 pounds and the size S fits perfectly. my waist is 26" and there is still plenty of room in the body of the jacket for layering. the sleeves are also roomy enough for a heavy weight thermal top. i also have broad swimmer's shoulders, but there's enough room in the size S. the best part is, the faux fur hood feels so nice and the cut of the jacket looks really slimming! and it's so well made. i can imagine wearing it on a night out in town and not looking out of place, like i'm wearing a "mountain jacket".

Thinking of getting this for my wife but am worried about size.

Thinking of getting this for my wife but am worried about size. She's petite, well was petite before she got preggers. She's still petite but w/ a belly. She usually wears an xtra small in North Face. Should I get her an extra small, eventhough her belly isn't or get her a small instead.

Great mid-weight jacket

By:
December 26, 2009

A stylish and comfy jacket. I found I needed one size larger than usual size to fit my broad shoulders. I found it a good length and fit overall and with one size up I can wear a light weight fleece or sweater under it. Only complaint is I too haven't found the interior zip pocket that is stated in description. That would be handy to have. Backcountry.com is great to deal with and I love their customer service. They have the best deals across the nation!!

Nice but ...

By:
May 23, 2009

I was so excited when I read this jacket runs small. I am 5 ft 90 lbs and ordered the XS. The fur-lined hood is too heavy when it is hanging down my back. The fit was not good on me - the upper back was too loose, and when I tried to layer it over a sweater, the arms were too tight! If this jacket fits you, it is awesome and very cute!

Here's another site that offers the same product for the same price. I would still however purchase from backcountry though because of their great return policy and customer service. But at least this site shows you the other colors.

Should be called the FurSHORT jacketc

By:
November 25, 2009

This jacket looks great until you bend over. It is much much much too short (much to my disappointment!). I'm 5'6" and 120 pounds and I got the small, and I can tell that even if I'd gotten the medium (which would have been cut too large), it still would have been too short. Bummer, because I like the jacket overall. The only other downside is that the fur that backs the front zipper looks really weird if you wear the jacket open without zipping it up. A for effort, Marmot, but it's just too darned short.

Cute, Stylish, Comfy

By:
November 22, 2009

I love the look, it's so flattering. The only thing I would change would be the lining in the sleeves could be made of something that makes slipping on over long sleeves a little easier. It's great for cool days but not for some of the colder Wyoming winter weather we experience.

hey - just bought this last week in park city (the vest though, not the full length jacket). I absolutely love it. I skied in it all week and then had to wash it, obviously. it's machine wash only - no dry clean; cold water, hang dry. the fur is so soft and dries just fine. even after being caught in a white out on the mountain the fur dried soft and oh god, I just love this jacket. I wish that i'd found the jacket and not the vest, but it's just as wonderful, i'm sure...i will continue to buy marmot - kept me very, very warm. buy this jacket!

best of the best

This is really a great jacket, and I have to say it is best of the best. The faux fur will make a fur turtle neck when you zip it up. It is light, easy to carry around. It also makes you look classy unlike other softshell jacket. You just need one good jacket, and it is the one.

I shoot trap and needed warmth without bulk. This jacket did the trick. It's warm, waterproof, wind resistant and flattering. And the hood stays up without goofy drawstrings!!!

Cute jacket!

By:
December 1, 2008

Very cute jacket for shopping and running errands around town. Love the hood- very cozy! Sizing runs a little small ( I wear a small in northface and got a medium in this jacket.) Overall, I am pleased with this jacket, my only complaint is that it isn't quite as warm as I might have liked.

I love this jacket...it would not be warm enough for very cold weather, but for the Seattle area it's perfect!!! I did go a size up. But if you like a snugger fit, I would stay with your normal size.Love the hood!!!!

Marmot Furlong Jacket

By:

Love this jacket! Very cute and cozy. I wear a small in The North Face and did not to go a size up. The overall fit and length of the sleeves were perfect for me. It definitely keeps me warm in teens.

By:

My new favorite. I love to wear this jacket when out walking my dogs. We do a pretty energetic walk and this jacket fits the bill nicely even in very cold weather. The faux fur hood is luscious. The snug fit is just right.

It's a pretty warm jacket. You'd be fine into the low 20's or teens. I don't know that they've rated it but my wife wears hers in pretty cold weather and hasn't complained about it. It doesn't seem to do well in windy conditions though.Hope that helps.

Marmot Hooded Jacket

By:
December 16, 2008

I took the suggestion and went a size up. The larger size didn't fit as nicely as the smaller in a nearby ski shop (the arm length was too short), but still looks great. When I went to exchange for the smaller size, the color I wanted was no longer available (boo hoo). So I'll just have the larger altered. Still the nicest looking I've seen!

glad I held out for this one

By:

This Jacket is wonderful. Its got a relaxed but flattering fit and is comfortable and flexible, warm and dry in bad weather. AND the faux fur tricks everyone into thinking im more trendy and put together than I ever intend to be! If you forced me to be critical about something it would be that it is a bit shorter than would be ideal for women with longer torsos (but that's also a personal preference). Enjoy!!
